Why do we say our little brothers. "our little brothers." Class topic message

There is an opinion that people and animals are fundamentally different from each other, that supposedly animals, unlike humans, do not have morality, morality, aesthetic sense, reason, the ability to love, compassion. Is it really? And if so, why do some people treat animals so warmly? Mayakovsky, one of the toughest poets of the Silver Age, dedicated one of his warmest poems to a horse, where he wrote: “we are all a little bit of a horse, each of us is a horse in our own way.” Yesenin’s number of similar poems is off the charts. It was Yesenin who called animals our little brothers, and this expression became popular. And among you and me, I think, the majority love animals, especially cats or dogs. What makes people see their likeness in such “primitive” creatures and treat them with such warmth, and are these creatures really that primitive?

Intelligence

Let's try to figure out whether animals are really as unreasonable as some people think about them. Reasonability consists in the ability to solve one’s problems in non-trivial ways, i.e. in non-obvious ways, to adapt to a changed situation... In the animal world, this happens all the time. Firstly, many animals learned to use primitive tools - stones. Some birds of prey, holding it in their beak, throw it onto the shell of a turtle or onto an ostrich egg in order to crack it and get to the food. Others use the Earth instead of a stone: lifting the turtle higher, they throw it on the ground, hoping to split the shell. The sea otter uses a stone in a similar way: placing a shell on its chest and holding a stone in its flippers, it begins to frequently hit the mollusk to split it. The octopus uses the stone even more cunningly: creeping up to a half-opened mollusk, it quickly pushes the stone between the shell flaps so that the mollusk cannot completely slam shut, after which it eats it. And the fox’s cunning was even reflected in Russian folklore. Here is one of her tricks: to catch a hawk, she places a fish head in a visible place, and she hides in ambush. The bird swoops down on the fish and becomes the victim of the fox. Animals are capable not only of using primitive tools, but also of constructing them independently, while showing ingenuity in a changed situation. For example, the jays figured out how to make ropes from strips of paper in order to get food that the experimenters had placed outside the cage. Having made paper sticks, the jays pushed them through the bars of the cage and reached for the grains. Some species of monkeys have learned to make small bags out of palm leaves. They use these little bags as cups to drink water by the river.

These are just a few examples of animals using intelligence to solve their problems. In fact, many more such examples can be found. Many cat owners will probably remember cases from their own practice when their pets showed intelligence in order to outwit the owner.

Experiments show that animals are even capable of abstract thinking. It is well known, for example, that animals can count. Everyone has probably seen trained dogs barking a certain number of times depending on the task. They say that Bulgakov had a very smart dog. On New Year's Day, when the chimes struck, she barked 12 times, although no one specifically taught her this. But it turns out that animals can not only count, but also draw numerical analogies between completely different objects. Here is a description of one such experiment. The parrot is trained to eat as many grains from the feeder as light bulbs light up. The researchers turn off the lights, and instead the parrot suddenly hears three sounds of a flute. This is a complete surprise for him, but after a short thought, the ass figures out what’s what and takes exactly three grains from the feeder - according to the number of sounds that replaced the number of lamps. Then the grains are removed from the feeder altogether, replacing them with a row of cards with dots drawn on them. The flute sounds five times. The parrot passes by the cards and pecks at the one with five dots. Nobody taught him this. He himself came up with the idea of finding a correspondence between sounds and dots. Here is an example of abstract thinking in its purest form.

Aesthetics

Many believe that love for beauty (aesthetic feeling) is what distinguishes humans from animals. In fact, this is not true. Everyone, for example, is well aware of the love of crows and magpies for shiny things. This love is not conditioned by any pressing need. The shiny things collected by these birds cannot be eaten, nor can they be used to build a nest, nor can they be used for any other practical purpose. Their only purpose is to admire them.

The bowerbird is an Australian bird that builds bower-shaped nests. Birds decorate these huts with flowers. Sometimes spouses quarrel terribly - the male, for example, brings and strengthens a flower, and the female pulls it out and throws it away. Bowerbirds change the wilted flowers on their house every day. If a flower is turned upside down, the bowerbird returning home will become very excited and immediately rearrange the flower “as it should.” Bowerbirds love blue flowers most of all. They love the color blue so much that they even paint themselves: they crush blue berries with their beaks and paint their chests blue.

Monkeys are also not indifferent to art. Circus trainers, for example, say that monkeys, accustomed to performing in clothes, soon begin to attach great importance to them: they rejoice at new clothes, jealously watch what other monkeys are wearing, and love to show off their new clothes in front of them. Monkeys also have their own primitive art. Young chimpanzees often try to figure out how much noise they can make by pounding a club, stomping their feet, or clapping their hands. As adults, they turn these experiences into lengthy group concerts. One after another, the monkeys begin to stomp, squeal, tear off leaves, and hit hollow stumps and tree trunks. Such collective performances can last for half an hour, or even longer...

On the Internet you can find a video in which an elephant draws an elephant holding a flower in its trunk. Some believe that this is a fake, however, who knows what elephants are capable of.

Morals and ethics

Contrary to popular belief, morality, as a system of rules of behavior, exists in many animals, especially predators. Predators, for example, quite rarely kill each other when fighting for territory or a mate. In addition, they have a system of signs to indicate, for example, surrender. By using such a conventional sign, the animal can count on the fact that it will not be finished off.

In addition to morality as a prohibition on actions, animals often exhibit mutual assistance and the ability to compassion. Here are some examples of such things:

On the Volga, seagulls flew over the water and caught fish. The crow, who had been looking at them for a long time, decided to try to catch the fish too, but was overwhelmed by the wave, wet its feathers and began to drown. The seagulls hanging around immediately stopped fishing and rushed to the crow’s aid. They made one attempt after another - they dived under the crow, trying to push it to the surface. Finally, one of them managed to successfully pry the crow, and it flew heavily over the water. A similar case was observed on the Danube - seagulls saved a crow, which, having hit an obstacle, fell into the water. And there are whole legends about dolphins saving people.

It is known that marmots never abandon their own in trouble; they strive to drag the wounded into a hole, sometimes risking their own lives. Dolphins, elephants and monkeys try to help their own. Elephants support weakened or sick relatives on both sides. Monkeys drag their wounded, running away from a predator...

Here is a description of another interesting experiment that proves that even rats have the ability to be compassionate. To get food, the rat needs to press a lever. But pressing the lever causes severe pain to the other rat. A rat pressing a lever sees another rat squeak and writhe in pain. As soon as rats grasp this relationship, a third of them immediately stop obtaining food at the cost of the suffering of their relatives. Another third stop pressing the lever only after they themselves have been in the role of a victim. That is, two-thirds of rats are willing to endure hunger so as not to cause pain to their relatives.

All these examples are just the tip of the iceberg. Much deeper connections can be found between the behavior of humans and other animals that cannot be described in one article. Of course, all these manifestations are developed to a lesser extent than in humans, but the study of animals gives reason to believe that the differences between humans and other animals are mainly quantitative, not qualitative. Doesn't the behavior of animals remind us of the behavior of small children who are just beginning to explore the world? Perhaps this is precisely the reason for human love for animals: by nature it is inherent in us to love our children in order to be able to procreate. But love for children turns out to be akin to love for animals, whose behavior is very similar to children. That is why Yesenin’s definition of animals as our little brothers turned out to be so successful.

According to the testimony of many spiritual people, non-Christian attitudes towards animals are now widespread. That’s why we often suffer from animals, although we ourselves don’t notice it. God sends allergies, stray dogs, cats and rats to our children, our entrances are polluted with animal urine, and we blame the authorities and neighbors for everything. But at the same time, we continue to call animals little brothers, we teach our children to have an irresponsible attitude towards them, we indulge the first sentimental feelings, without thinking about the consequences, without adequately assessing the conditions of real city life.

What does God say about treating animals kindly? What stereotypes are there in the minds of modern people in relation to animals? Why is it unacceptable for a Christian to treat animals as lesser brothers and call them that? What do modern animal cruelty laws actually say?

Let's try to answer these and other questions in a short article, which is just a compilation from different sources.

The smaller brothers are as they are.

The expression “little brothers” is taken from the Gospel. The Gospel of Matthew contains these words of Jesus when He speaks of His Second Coming, judging people according to their deeds. On the day of judgment the Lord will be merciful to the righteous who were lovers of humanity and, therefore, lovers of God:« The king will answer them, “Truly I say to you, just as you did it to one of these my least brothers, they did this to Me” (Matt. 25:40,45).

According to the generally accepted interpretation in the Orthodox Church, by “lesser brothers” the Lord means Orthodox Christians.
Saint John Chrysostom in his conversation on the Gospel of Matthew says:

« And as He said above that those who do not accept the poor will be punished more than the Sodomites, so here He says: Thou hast not made one of these least of My brethren, neither have ye made one for Me (Matt. XXV, 45). What are you saying? Are they your brothers? And why do you call them lesser brothers? Because they are brothers, because they are humiliated, because they are poor, because they are rejected. Such He especially calls into His brotherhood, that is, the unknown, the despised, meaning not only monks and those living in the mountains , but also every believer. He wants to and the worldly man, when he thirsts, hungers, is naked or wanders, received every kind of benefit from us. Baptism and communication in divine mysteries makes us brothers.”

It is very important not to distort the meaning of the Savior’s words, not to introduce anything of your own. This was the sin of the wife in paradise when she added to God’s commandment: “Only from the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God said, you shall not eat it, don't touch them lest you die” (Gen. 3:3). God did not say that the tree of the knowledge of good and evil could not be touched, only that one should not eat from it. Having arbitrarily tightened God's commandment, the wife made a mistake that led to a terrible sin. It also happens when a person wants to be “more merciful” than God Himself, when he begins to consider animals as “lesser brothers,” while often forgetting about his neighbors.

How should an Orthodox Christian treat animals, including sick ones?

A Christian should treat animals in accordance with the will of God. His will certainly excludes cruelty to animals, for God's Word says:
But this does not mean that God treats animals the same way as people. By creating humans, God showed that there is a clear difference between them and animals. Thus, he gave people hope for eternal life, which cannot be said about animals (Rom. 6:23; 2 Pet. 2:12). He, as the Creator, has the right to determine what the relationship between humans and animals should be.

We learn about what this relationship is from the book of Genesis. This is what God said to the people: “Have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth” (Gen. 1:28). A similar thought is contained in the Psalter: “You have made him ruler over the works of Your hands; He put everything under his feet: all the sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the air and the fish of the sea, everything that passes along the paths of the sea. Lord our God! How majestic is Your name throughout the whole earth!” (Ps. 8:7-10).
God has clearly shown that man can properly use animals for his own needs and kill them. For example, their skin can be used to make clothes. In addition, after the Flood that occurred in the days of Noah, God allowed man to eat animal meat in addition to the plant foods originally given to him (Genesis 3:21; 4:4; 9:3 ).

Thus, although it is given to man to have dominion over animals, he must not abuse this power and must use it in accordance with the principles of Scripture and Tradition. This may mean that there is no need to allow a pet to suffer needlessly due to age, serious injury or terminal illness. In such cases, the Christian must decide for himself what to do. If he believes that it would be more merciful not to prolong the animal's suffering when there is no hope of recovery, he may decide to euthanize it.

Archpriest Alexander Ilyashenko answered this question: “Holy water, blessed butter, Easter cake and eggs cannot be given to animals - this is desecration of the shrine. Putting a hopelessly sick animal to sleep is not a sin, since the Lord placed man over the animals.”

Where does the expression “animals are our little brothers” come from?

As linguists and literary historians testify, in the old days our little brothers(young, junior) were appanage princes in relation to the Grand Duke, as well as simply people of low social status who needed protection and help. This use of the Savior’s words is in agreement with the Gospel, if we remember that the ancient Russian princes were Christians, even if they were at enmity with each other.

In Russia in the 19th century. this expression gave birth to one of its popular derivatives at that time - “the lesser brethren.” This is how liberal Russian journalism of those years called the poor, the poor, people from the lower social classes, “lower classes,” as well as the entire “suffering people” (pompous). M. E. Saltykov-Shchedrin (“Diary of a provincial in St. Petersburg”):“... Having adjusted ourselves to a sensitive tone, we began to talk about the lesser brethren. - The lesser brethren, brother, is the first thing! - I said. The lesser brethren is a thing, brother! - echoed Prokop.” S. Stepnyak-Kravchinsky (“House on the Volga”): « - What should be done? Distribute all property, as Christ commanded?.. - That’s not the point. We must renounce ourselves. Do not have any other thought, day or night, except for the good of the younger brothers. Give your soul for them! This will be love, this will be help!”

At the beginning of the 20th century smaller In Russia, animals also began to be called (younger, inferior) brothers, which was associated with the humane activities of the famous trainers of the Durov brothers, who considered animals to be very intelligent and kind creatures and achieved great results in training with the help of affection and kindness.

It is very important for Orthodox Christians to record: in mid.XIX- beginningXXV. There was a turning point in people’s consciousness in relation to the problem of “man and animals”. The crisis of consciousness was associated with the spread of Charles Darwin's anti-Christian theory of evolution. Darwinism equated the origins of people and animals, erased the concept of the image of God in man, reducing everything to natural and sexual selection, the struggle for existence.

This is best seen in the example of the famous poem by Sergei Yesenin“Now we are leaving little by little” (1924). The poet confesses his love for everything earthly: « I loved too much in this world Everything that puts the soul into flesh.” The poet has no gratitude to God for the life he has lived: “I composed many songs to myself, And on this gloomy earth. Happy that I breathed and lived." At this moment Yesenin’s “smaller brothers” appear: « I’m happy that I kissed women, crushed flowers, lay on the grass, and never hit animals on the head, like our smaller brothers.”

It is noteworthy that here Yesinin so far only compares the “beast” with people, smaller brothers. In future Soviet literature it will become self-evident to call animals brothers.

Y. Chernetsky (“Little brothers at the front”): “Many soldiers’ lives were saved by our smaller brothers, the orderly dogs, and the dogs that demolished enemy tanks.” A. Androshin (“Birch in your house”): “We often call animals and birds “little brothers,” which means we should treat them accordingly with kindness, humanity, patience and even endurance.” V. Zhuravsky (“In the Eagle’s Nest”): “As a boy, Dundich was restless, mischievous, and desperate. I didn't know fear. I climbed all the nearby rocks, gorges and caves. Nature gifted him with strength, and he learned dexterity from our smaller forest and mountain brothers.”

Modern legislation on animals.

If we carefully read modern animal legislation, we will see that most zoophiles are persistent violators. Demonstrating themselves as animal lovers, they actually not only cause suffering to neighbors and relatives, but also engage in animal husbandry. The animals themselves suffer from their “love”, or it would be more correct to call it passion. Let's see what our laws say.

According to Federal Law "On the sanitary and epidemiological welfare of the population"When organizing nutrition for the population to prevent the occurrence and spread of infectious diseases and mass non-infectious diseases (poisonings), sanitary and epidemiological requirements must be met.
(Article 17. Sanitary and epidemiological requirements for catering for the population).

IN "
Sanitary norms and rules for catering establishments" there is a norm that in such organizations« premises for housing are not located, work and services not related to the activities of public catering organizations are not carried out, and domestic animals and poultry are not kept.”

In preschool organizations, according to SanPiN 2.4.1.2660-10: “ Sick, aggressive and unpredictable animals in their behavior, as well as poisonous and thorny plants are unacceptable; animals are accepted with the permission of veterinary authorities (registration, timely vaccinations, hygiene procedures); It is unacceptable to accept stray animals; ...The placement of aquariums, animals, and birds in group premises is not permitted.”

Article 4 of the “Moscow Law on Animals” contains the rule that
provide assistance to an animal in difficulty or distress obliged authorized bodies and officials of the city administration, although citizens also have such right.
Article 9 (“Conditions for keeping animals”) states that officials have the right to demand the presentation of a certificate of state registration of an animal subject to such registration, and other documents established by law for the animal, and Keeping animals in public places is not permitted.
Article 12 (“Veterinary care for animals”) states that if there is a suspicion that an animal has a disease, the owner is obliged to immediately take measures to isolate sick animals and contact a veterinarian and is responsible for the timely provision of veterinary care to the animal, as well as for timely implementation of preventive vaccinations.
Article 13 (“Killing of Animals”) expressly allows the killing of non-viable animals if their suffering cannot be stopped in any other way or if they pose a public danger, with behavior that cannot be corrected, after the conclusion of the authorized body of the city administration.

The “Temporary Rules for Keeping Dogs and Cats in Moscow,” which apply to all owners of dogs and cats in the capital, states that it is possible to keep animals both in apartments occupied by one family and in the rooms of communal apartments if the neighbors do not have medical contraindications (allergies). A mandatory condition for keeping an animal is compliance with sanitary and hygienic, veterinary and sanitary rules and hostel norms. It is not allowed to keep animals in common areas: kitchens, corridors, stairwells, attics, basements, as well as on balconies and loggias. Dogs and cats that are in public places without accompanying persons, except for those left on a leash by their owners near shops, pharmacies, consumer service establishments, clinics, etc., are subject to capture upon requests from interested organizations. If the owner cannot continue to keep the animal, it must be transferred to another owner or taken to a veterinary institution.

Moreover, there are penalties for improper treatment of animals. In Article 1 of the Law “
On penalties for violation of the legislation of the Russian Federation in the field of animal protection and temporary rules for keeping dogs and cats in Moscow" the amount of fines is determined. It will be a violation, in particular, to keep animals in common areas of communal apartments and to pollute stairwells, elevators, entrances, playgrounds, sidewalks with animal excrement (0.15 of the minimum wage for citizens, 3.0 for legal entities), keeping an animal in conditions , which do not comply with its biological characteristics and the requirements of veterinary and sanitary regulations (0.25 for citizens, 1.0 for legal entities).

In project
The Law of the Russian Federation “On the Protection of Animals from Cruelty” provides for Article (17), which states that the conditions for keeping the animal must satisfy its biological characteristics, natural needs for food, water, sleep, movements, contacts with people or others like them, natural activity and other needs. The place where the animal is kept must be furnished and equipped in such a way as to provide the animal with the necessary space, temperature and humidity conditions, natural light, ventilation, and the possibility of contact of the animal with its natural environment. Keeping animals in children's institutions is permitted provided that constant care for the animals is provided in accordance with the requirements of this law.

Animals at the will of God (conclusions).

So, there is no doubt that a Christian, if he wants to follow the will of God in everything, must understand the lesser brothers as Orthodox Christians. From correct understanding, works of mercy pleasing to God are born. By the latter, the Holy Fathers of the Orthodox Church understood not only material assistance, but also preaching and teaching.

Blessed Theophylact of Bulgaria in his interpretation of the 25th chapter of the Gospel of Matthew calls: « So, avoid mercy and do alms both sensually and especially spiritually. Feed Christ, who hungers for our salvation. However, if you also feed and give drink to the one who is hungry and thirsty for teaching, then even then you have fed and given Christ to drink. For the faith that lives in a Christian is Christ, and faith is nourished and grows through teaching. If you also see someone strange, that is, someone who has moved away from the Kingdom of Heaven, then bring him along with you; in other words: enter heaven with him yourself, and lead him in, so that, while preaching to others, you yourself do not prove unworthy. And if someone has put off the incorruptibility garment that he had through baptism and is naked, then clothe him, and “accept him who faints in the faith,” as Paul says, “(Rom. 14:1); visit the prisoner in this dark body, giving him instruction, like some kind of light. Perform all these types of love both physically and especially spiritually: since we consist of two parts - the soul and the body, then deeds of love can be performed in two ways.”

On the other hand, a Christian must cut off the philosophy of “this world” that animals are our lesser brothers. The words of the Gospel were distorted in ungodly times. And there is no need for a Christian to follow them.A Christian should treat animals in accordance with the will of God. His will certainly excludes cruelty to animals, for God's Word says: “The righteous is concerned for the life of his livestock, but the heart of the wicked is hard” (Prov. 12:10). By creating humans, God showed that there is a clear difference between them and animals. Thus, he gave people hope for eternal life, which cannot be said about animals (Rom. 6:23; 2 Pet. 2:12). God has clearly shown that man can properly use animals for his own needs and kill them. This may mean that there is no need to allow a pet to suffer needlessly due to age, serious injury or terminal illness.

Finally, it becomes obvious that people who do not want to hear God and follow His will will not care about the lesser brothers (humans, as we found out, not animals). Accordingly, God will not give them the strength to fulfill His other commandment: “The righteous is concerned for the life of his livestock, but the heart of the wicked is hard” (Prov. 12:10). They cannot give real care to animals. Instead, we see how these people literally torture their pets with their passion: they put them in cramped cages, lock them in dark common areas, restrict their movement, and create unsanitary conditions for the animals.

May the merciful Lord grant them repentance, may he forgive them their unreasonable sins, may he enlighten them with the light of Truth, may he have mercy on them. “For the creation waits with hope for the revelation of the sons of God, because the creation was subjected to vanity not voluntarily, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in the hope that the creation itself will be freed from the slavery of corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers together until now; and not only [she], but we ourselves, having the firstfruits of the Spirit, and we groan within ourselves, awaiting adoption as sons, the redemption of our body. For we are saved through hope” (Rom. 8:19-24).

Guys! For many thousands of years, animals, birds, and fish have lived on planet Earth next to humans. The Russian poet Sergei Yesenin lovingly called animals “our little brothers.” I think you love animals too.

Today we will talk about our pets. Probably almost all of you have dogs, parrots, fish, hamsters, and cats at home. Even in ancient times, man began to domesticate wild animals such as dogs, horses, cows, goats, and chickens. And only the cat, living next to the person, remained independent and independent. As excavations have shown, the domestication of cats dates back to the fourth millennium BC. In ancient Egypt, in drawings depicting scenes of domestic life, a cat sits next to a woman. The ancient Egyptians deified them. They believed that a cat brings happiness. From Egypt, the cat spread to China, Thailand, Burma and north – through Crete and Rome to Europe. Cats were called “good spirits of the home.” Why do you think? Right. The cat has become man's ally in the fight against rodents.

The domestic cat is an affectionate, sweet, graceful animal. In Rus' they believed that the cat was the mistress of the house. Many peoples have created proverbs and sayings about cats. Let's remember these proverbs and collect them. Halves of proverbs are written on the cards. You need to connect them, read them and explain their meaning. (Work in groups)

Proverbs and sayings about cats:

Without a cat there is no home, without a dog there is no yard

Miroshka is rich, but his bellies are a dog and a cat

Ermoshka lives: there is a dog and a cat

The cat is a fish hunter, but is afraid of water

You can't buy a cat in a mesh

A cat's paw is soft, but its claw is sharp

Cat in the stove - cold in the yard

The cat climbs through the window

Cat on the stove, dog on the porch

The cat sleeps but sees mice

The cat is out of the house, the mice are dancing

The cat has toys, and the mouse has tears.

Cats are out of the yard, and mice are on the tables

Why is the cat smooth? - I ate, and on my side

The bird sang early, lest the cat eat it

Cats are often found in fairy tales, always acting as human assistants. Name the works in which these famous furry characters appear:

Basilio the Cat (A. Tolstoy “The Golden Key, or the Adventures of Pinocchio”)

Cat Epifan (E.I. Charushin “Cat Epifan”)

Kitten Tyupa (E.I. Charushin “Why was Tyupa nicknamed Tyupa”, “About how Tyupa became small again”, “Why Tyupa doesn’t catch birds”)

Cat Matroskin (E.N. Uspensky “Uncle Fyodor, Dog and Cat”)

Family of cats (S.Ya. Marshak “Cat House”)

Leopold the Cat (A.I. Reznik “The Adventures of Leopold the Cat”)

Scientist cat (A.S. Pushkin “Ruslan and Lyudmila”)

Muryonka the cat (P.P. Bazhov “Silver Hoof”)

Puss in Boots (C.Perrault “Puss in Boots”)

Cat Fyodor Timofeevich (A.P. Chekhov “Kashtanka”)

Cheshire cat (Lewis Carroll "Alice in Wonderland")

Fairy tales (“Turnip”, “Cat and Fox”, “Cat - gray forehead, goat and ram”, “Cat, sparrow and rooster”, “Cat, rooster and fox” and others) (Children’s answers)

Guys, pay attention to the exhibition of books “Our Faithful Friends”. Now we will try to remember all these works and collect the cut-out pictures that are collected in the “Tales of Animals” envelopes. (Children collect pictures).

Listen to Leo Tolstoy's story "Kitten"

Questions:

  1. Did Katya and Vasya love the kitten?
  2. Why did they leave him alone and did they do the right thing?
  3. Why did Vasya rush to save the kitten?

If you take responsibility, care and look after, educate and be friends with your pet, then you are responsible for it for life.

Guys, what breeds of cats do you know?

(Angora, European, Egyptian, Chinese hairless, Persian, Russian, Siamese, Siberian and others.)

Interesting Facts:

  1. Do you know how many whiskers cats have? (24)
  2. How many teeth do cats have? (thirty)
  3. Are there cat monuments?

(Yes. St. Petersburg: a monument to the “Good Cat” was erected in 2000;

Paris: monument in front of the famous Sorbonne University;

Moscow: at the corner of Bolshoi Ovchinnikovsky Lane and Pyatnitskaya Street there is a cat monument).

Boris Zakhoder “Song about a little dog”

One Dog has a tail;

The other Dog has a nose;

And the Little Dog

There is no nose or tail.

No paws

No fur

No ears

No peephole...

Everything that that Dog has -

Everything is COMPLETE BEAUTY!

The first animal domesticated by man was the dog. Why do you think? Judging by archaeological excavations, this happened back in the Stone Age. Primitive man was constantly afraid for his life. He listened to every rustle. Gradually, the man tamed the dog to guard the house and help in the hunt. Today there are more than 400 dog breeds around the world. Breeds are divided into: service, hunting and decorative (indoor). Service dogs guard the state border, military and commercial facilities, search for and detain criminals. Hunting dogs are a group of breeds that have long been used by humans for various types of hunting. Their main feature is a highly developed hunting instinct. Decorative dogs include poodles, lapdogs, Pekingese, chow chows and others. For a lonely person, a dog can be his only friend. Dogs are very loyal to their home and their owner.

Listen to E. Charushin's story “True Troy”

Questions:

  1. Why is the story named this way?
  2. Why did Troy start using wheels?
  3. How does the owner feel about his pet?

Probably every person dreams or has dreamed of someday having a dog. And it’s not surprising, because everyone wants to have a faithful and devoted friend. But it also happens. A man got himself a dog, and it requires attention and care. The man got tired of these worries, and he threw the dog out into the street, betraying his friend. There are especially many stray dogs and cats in our city in the summer, when residents go on vacation and their pets are kicked out into the street. Having gathered in flocks, such animals are forced to independently obtain food for themselves. A dog is a man’s friend, but when kicked out of the house, it lives according to the laws of the pack. Cruelty begets cruelty. A lost or abandoned dog is always the responsibility of its owner. Try not to make mistakes for which your dog could pay with his life, and do not condemn your four-legged friend to a slow and painful death, do not betray him. Betrayal is one of the most disgusting human acts. We must remember this. I think that you love your pets and take care of them. And we will be happy to hear stories about your pets. What they can do, interesting facts from their lives. (Children's stories)

Guys, remember the phrase from Saint-Exupéry’s book “The Little Prince”: “We are responsible for those we have tamed.” We always need to take care of our little brothers, and not just when we are interested in them. They need us, we are always responsible for them, for those we have tamed. In the next lesson we will continue the conversation about our little brothers. We will conduct a quiz with you, a reading competition, and draw your pet. And if someone else doesn’t have it, draw a picture of who you would like to buy. In our library you will find many books that tell about animals, how to care for them, feed them, and love them. I think you will enjoy reading these books and learning the poems.

Our smaller brothers
From the poem “We are now leaving little by little” (1924) by Sergei Aleksandrovich Yesenin (1895-1925):
I'm happy that I kissed women,
Crushed flowers, lying on the grass
And the beast, like our smaller brothers, never hit us on the head.

The poet paraphrased and reinterpreted the expression from the New Testament - “my little brothers.” The Gospel of Matthew contains the words of Jesus, who speaks of the coming of the Son of Man and the King of Heaven, who will judge people according to their deeds and will be merciful to the righteous, who were lovers of mankind and, therefore, lovers of God (chapter 25, v. 40): “And the King will answer them: “Truly I say to you, just as you did it to one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did it to Me.”
In Russia in the 19th century. this expression gave birth to one of its popular derivatives at that time - “the lesser brethren.” This is how liberal Russian journalism of those years called people from the lower social classes, “lower classes,” as well as the entire “suffering people” (high-flown language). M. E. Saltykov-Shchedrin (“Diary of a provincial in St. Petersburg”):
“... Having adjusted ourselves to a sensitive tone, we began to talk about the lesser brethren.
- The lesser brethren, brother, is the first thing! - I said.
The lesser brethren is a thing, brother! - echoed Prokop.”

Little brothers

From the book Out of This World by the author

Lesser brothers O God, expand in us the sense of fellowship with all living beings, with our lesser brothers to whom You have given this earth as a common home with us. Let us understand that they live not only for us, but for themselves and for You, that they enjoy the joy of life

Animal means living, many call them “our little brothers.” Why brothers? Yes, after all, they are the same as us. They hear everything and understand everything, they say animals are not able to talk, but if so, what then “MEOW”, “WOOF” and all similar sounds? No, it's not just sounds, it's how they communicate with us. These cute creatures are more than just a ball of fur.

For example, cats have an amazing ability, when you feel bad, these soft, fluffy creatures come and lie on your lap, begin to purr and meow, when you stroke your kitten you understand that you are not alone, even if there are no people nearby and it immediately becomes easier in my heart...

But unfortunately, people are often cruel to animals. I recently read a story about a cat, it really hurt me, so I want to tell it to you. The boy describes a story from his life: “And in our yard there lived a cat. An ordinary, mongrel, but his life was great battered, like people. Once he lost part of his tail - only a short stump remained. The left ear was torn and did not heal well. One eye did not open due to the scar, but only squinted. In fact, this cat was kind. Towards people didn’t get angry, although people didn’t favor him. And they called him Ugly. Not Vaska, not Brsik, but Ugly. However, he looked scary, you understand. And he may have understood that the word was offensive, but he didn’t take offense at people.” .I miss some events “The neighbor set the dogs on the cat, he couldn’t run away or climb a tree because of his sore paw.” When the boy saw the cat, he was lying in a pool of blood and died. The boy took the Freak and carefully brought him home. “Freak suddenly he tried to purr, he didn’t wheeze or howl, but tried to purr.” The cat died on the boy’s lap. The boy felt sorry for the Freak, he sat with him on his lap and cried for a long time... Think about it! How sometimes we are cruel to animals, and maybe not only to animals... How often we offend them, how we mock them, and maybe not only to them!

Here is another story, from my life. My family has already rescued three cats, at different times, of course. Seven years ago, when my mother and I were walking from school, I saw a little kitten. It was the end of September, cold. We took him home, washed him, we left him to live with us, although at first dad was against it, but then he got used to it. And now Ryzhik lives with us, he has become a fat, beautiful cat, it is not known what would have happened to him if not for people...

In the same year, only in January. There was a cat sitting in our entrance; he was missing one paw, only bones were sticking out from it. We felt sorry for him and we kept him for ourselves, and his father was the initiator. Now, to Silver’s regret no longer, last year in May he disappeared... And in June or July last year, I don’t remember exactly. My dad and my little brother were walking and saw a little kitten, they saw it! Now I’m writing about it like this, they didn’t see, but saved her from death. Dad said that she was sitting on the road and a bus was driving straight towards her, the driver couldn’t see her, she was small, and the bus was from Gramoz. Dad stood a little to the side from the road and waved his hands, the driver saw him and stopped, so the cat remained alive. This is a good example of not only love for animals, but also helping the weak, despite any circumstances, then dad didn’t care what he looked like or what about him people will think, the main thing for him was to save the cat. Then they brought her to our home, at first we wanted to find her owners, but it turned out that she stayed with us. So what thoughts do all these stories lead to? Difference between people? I think no, initially all people are equal, but everyone must choose their own path, a person’s whole life will depend on this choice. But if you have already made a mistake in something, this is not the end, it is not a disaster! Everyone can change, the main thing is to understand your mistakes and try to correct them, if possible, but if not, at least not repeat them. Are we only talking about animals? Of course not, we often treat each other the same way.

Think about it and try not to do something bad! But, really, everyone must decide for themselves what is good and what is bad, and others can only help you in this decision, guide you.
