Homemade buttons from yarn. Crafts from buttons - an overview of options for using buttons for jewelry and toys (80 photos). Making a stand for pencils and pens

Cute crafts made from buttons can be a real decoration for any interior. And there is nothing difficult in making these decorative elements.
You just need to show your imagination, collect the required number of buttons and allocate some free time to realize your idea.

This real picture of buttons, in fact, requires only a flight of your imagination and a minimum of material costs.
Original ideas for creating panels The main thing to consider when creating panels is that there are no restrictions. It is not necessary to create a complex plot. It can be a simple but effective design.

After all, sometimes it is simple and unpretentious panels that look truly magical, giving the interior an expressive and original touch.

Even a novice craftswoman can create such a button tree from a piece of cardboard and the remnants of ordinary buttons from unwanted clothes. Compositions in the form of tree branches framed by foliage made of white and transparent buttons look especially impressive.

Simple to make, but charming in its results, this “blooming” button tree is made from buttons.

Want to create a more sophisticated decorative element? Create panels that have clear outlines.

We’ll make a fancy flower with petals shimmering in the sun from buttons of different colors. Compositions made from buttons of different sizes, painted in contrasting shades, look very impressive.

You can even use buttons to create letters and geometric patterns.

These fittings will also come in handy when creating original postcards.

You can come up with the background and design for the composition yourself, or you can reproduce ideas already embodied by someone.

If crafts made from buttons are placed in a frame, they will become an even more elegant and noticeable detail of the interior, for example, like this amazing butterfly with sparkling openwork wings made of buttons.

Or a beautiful silhouette of a girl, the hem of her dress is lined with colorful buttons...

The choice is limited only by your imagination.
DIY button crafts To create decorations, it is best to use flat buttons that have two or four holes in the center.
We bring to your attention an option for making a panel, which, in addition to its aesthetic purpose, also performs a practical function. In our case, this panel acts as a basis for hanging chains, beads and other accessories.

In addition to a set of buttons, to make jewelry you will need the following materials:
wooden or cardboard base; a piece of burlap or canvas; 4 empty wooden spools; 4 wood screws; hot melt adhesive or “universal”; a simple pencil and a sheet of paper. If you plan to give clear contours to the composition, to frame it, prepare in advance a frame that matches the size.
This stand is convenient because it allows you to conveniently place jewelry without allowing them to get mixed up. You won’t waste precious time before leaving the house, which is often spent unraveling the bracelets and laces with pendants thrown into the box.

The production of panels is carried out in the following sequence:
A square blank measuring 20x20 cm is cut out of a wooden or cardboard base. A pattern of the future heart is made on a sheet of paper. Its dimensions should be approximately 12x12 cm. The paper template is applied to the cardboard, traced along the contour with a pencil, and then the blank is cut out. Both blanks are wrapped with pieces of canvas or burlap and fixed on the back side with glue. The heart-shaped blank is decorated with buttons. On a square base along one of the edges at an equidistant distance, screw the coils onto self-tapping screws. Both blanks are connected to each other and carefully glued. A little secret: to get a symmetrical image, the sheet is folded in half and half a heart is drawn along the fold line, along which the pattern is subsequently cut out .

When creating a button ornament, do not rush. The elements are first simply laid out on the base, forming a pattern. Only after making sure that the composition is harmonious, each element is lifted in turn and covered with glue on the back side.
Crafts from buttons with children. In addition to buttons, you can use beads and seed beads to fill out the design. In addition, if the edges of the buttons overlap each other, they give the composition additional volume.

To keep your button crafts neat, make two duplicates of your design. Dry lay out a pattern of buttons on one copy, slowly selecting buttons by color and texture.
When the initial drawing is ready, begin to fill the second drawing with buttons, smearing small areas of the drawing with glue and transferring this fragment from the first drawing.

Similar crafts from buttons can be made not only on paper, but also on fabric, leather, etc. A good decorative technique is the combination of various techniques and textures in this wall panel, including the use of simple buttons.

Simple crafts from buttons, despite the fact that they can be made even by a child, will become a real highlight of your interior.

Button crafts are a simple and original way to create unusual decor for your home with your children.

A button is an essential element of most knitted items. A beautiful designer button will make any knitted item unique. Buttons for knitted items can be made from fabric, but the most suitable ones are crocheted. It's easy to make yourself. In our master class we will tell you in detail and show you how to make several DIY buttons- from the simplest to the more complex.

Simple round button

To make a round button you need yarn, a hook and a bead.

We dial 5 v.p.
close the knitting into a ring, tie it with single crochets.
The first row consists of 14 tbsp. b/n.
Before knitting the second row, cast on 2 vp. rise. We knit the second row on top of the first with single crochets, pulling the working thread through the ring.
The second row consists of 24 st. s/n.
Close the last loop and leave the thread for sewing on the bead.
Pull the needle in and sew the bead into the middle of the button.
The button is ready.

This button looks neat on any product, is suitable as an additional decor, and is used to hide rivets and hooks. The button will gain more volume if you tie the third row over the second row with double crochets.

Two-tone button

It is customary to use plastic rings to make knitted buttons, but they can be replaced by repeatedly winding the yarn around your finger.
Fix the ring of thread with single crochets.
They must be placed tightly for additional rigidity.

We tie the resulting ring of loops with single crochets. Attach a thread of the second color.
We knit the second row in a different color.

We close the last loop and make membranes using a needle.

We fix the resulting stitches with thread, wrapping it from bottom to top.

The membranes will turn out neat and symmetrical if you constantly adjust the thread tension.
The button is ready. It is functional and looks like a regular button.

On the basis of such a blank, buttons are made in the shape of flowers and geometric shapes. To make the button larger, knit an additional number of rows in a circle.

Square button with beads

We string the beads onto the thread and remove them higher along the thread, they will be needed later. We dial 4 v.p.,
close it in a ring. 1st row: 2 b/n columns, 2 vp.

We knit the report 4 times. We get the sides of the square from columns and the corners from air loops.
For the second row, cast on 1 ch, knit the sides of the square with single crochets, knit the corners of the square according to the pattern: 1 dc + 2 ch. + 1 tbsp. b/n.

The number of rows may increase depending on the required size. We tie the last row like the second, adding beads. When knitting with beads, we knit on the wrong side so that the beads are located on the outside of the square.

We cut the working thread and attach the bead.
For additional rigidity, we knit a similar square and sew it to the first one.

We fasten the button using a needle. We stretch three identical stitches and sew them with a needle, wrapping the thread tightly around the stitches from one edge to the other.

To make such a button, you must use cotton yarn. This product comes out dense and does not require additional base.

An original button will update any item. Knitted buttons are decorated with beads and beads. Crochet buttons are a bright addition to any knitted item.

We hope everything worked out for you.

Any clothing can be transformed beyond recognition if you use unusual, exclusive accessories. On an ordinary white shirt, you can replace the simple white translucent buttons with some unusual ones, and now the shirt is transformed right before your eyes, it has ceased to be ordinary and banal, it has become stylish and original. The author of this wonderful idea will tell you about several ways to make fancy buttons from self-hardening polymer clay. Following the author’s recommendations, you can make your own exclusive and unique fittings to update your items.

To begin, prepare the necessary materials and tools:
1. Self-hardening clay in several colors. The author uses clay of white, blue and brown colors.
2. Sharp knife. The author uses a stationery knife blade to cut paper.
3. Rolling pin for polymer clay.
4. Round cutter of suitable diameter.
5. Cling film.
6. Skewer or thick knitting needle.

Method I
1 step.
First, decide what color buttons you would like to make. You need to think about what color you will make the base of the buttons and what colors the decor on these buttons will be. Then we cut off identical pieces from clay of different colors, and divide these pieces into two equal parts. Now cut one of the halves of each color in half again. It turned out to be three pieces of multi-colored clay.

Step 2.
Now knead with your fingers a larger piece of clay of the color that you decided to use as the main one. Then, using a rolling pin, roll out the clay into an even layer. The layer should not be too thin, otherwise the buttons will be very fragile after hardening.

Step 3.
Now we take a small piece of clay of two other colors, carefully knead the clay with our fingers and roll multi-colored thin sausages out of it. Place these sausages on a previously rolled out layer of clay of the main color and press with your fingers. And remember - the more sausages you put, the less the main color of the button will eventually be visible.

Step 4
Now, using a rolling pin, carefully roll out the sausages; as a result of these actions, a pattern consisting of stripes of different colors and different widths is obtained on the surface of the button.

Step 5
Now we take a cutter of the required diameter and cut out circles from rolled polymer clay. It is advisable to first cover the rolled clay with cling film.

You should end up with something like these cute button blanks:

Step 6
Using the sharp end of a knitting needle, we make two holes in the clay blanks and give the buttons time to harden. Calculate the time based on the instructions indicated on the package of polymer clay. This is how you can make original buttons for your things. This pattern looks good on denim and plain items of suitable colors.

II method.
1 step.
Now, continuing to work with the same set of materials and tools, we will make some more unusual buttons. To do this, from colored clay, which we decided to use as decoration, we roll several multi-colored small balls with our fingers.

Step 2.
Knead the clay of the main color again and roll it into a uniform layer. Use your fingers to press the previously rolled balls onto this layer.

Step 3.
And again, using a rolling pin, we level the surface of the clay.

Step 4
Cover the rolled clay with a piece of cling film.

Step 5
Using a cutter we cut out blanks for future buttons.

Step 6
Carefully remove the film.

Step 7
Use a sharp object to make holes in the workpieces and leave them to harden. Experiment with colors and button shapes.

After some time, you will be able to decorate yours or your children’s things with these original and unbroken buttons:

III method.
1 step.
As a result of the first two experiments, some colorful clay remained. Let's put these leftovers to work and make fancy accessories. To do this, roll out all the small leftover pieces into sausages of different thicknesses and put them together, forming a small stick from these sausages.

Step 2.
Then we put this stick and begin to roll it out with our palms, forming a thin and long cane. After you have rolled out a sufficiently long and thin cane, hold one end of the cane with your palm, and with the other palm, roll the cane along the working surface, thus twisting the pattern on the clay into a spiral.

Step 3.
Now carefully roll the cane into a roll.

You need to roll the cane all the way to the end. This is what you should get:

Step 4
Now, using a rolling pin, roll out the previously obtained roll into a layer of uniform thickness.

Step 5
Cover the rolled out clay with cling film again.

Step 6
Cut blanks for buttons from rolled clay. Blanks can be of various shapes, it all depends on your desires and imagination.

Step 7
Let's make holes in the blanks. Let's give the clay time to harden.

, both simple ones that can be done with children, and complex ones that require a lot of patience and several tools.

To make interesting crafts from buttons, you don’t need to have any special skills, you just need to stock up on certain tools and learn some tricks.

Here is just a small part of some of the most interesting (simple and not so simple) button crafts that you can make with your own hands.

Button Crafts: Adjustable Button Necklace

You will need:

Buttons

Thread, cord, line, or string (strong and thin enough to fit through the holes in the button)

Scissors

Measuring tape

1. Measure approximately 150 cm of thread and cut a piece. Thread the needle and start pulling on the buttons one by one.

Start from the back of the button, into the hole, to the right and into the other hole.

The first button should be approximately 40 cm from the end of the thread.

Insert the second button in reverse, i.e. so that it attaches to the first face to face.

Repeat alternately as much as you want. In this example, the length of the button necklace is 50 cm.

2. Making an adjustable clasp:

Prepare a button with two large holes - you will have to thread it 2 times

Insert this button about 10 cm from the end of the thread

Thread the other end of the thread through the needle and pull the end through the same button (this time it will be on the reverse side).

3. Tie a knot at each end of the thread.

* By pulling the ends of the thread, you can adjust the length of the necklace.

Button tutorial: bowl

You will need:

Buttons of different shapes and sizes (small buttons stick better)

PVA glue (you can dilute it with a little water)

Brush

Scissors

Jar (on which you will place the ball)

1. Inflate the balloon to the desired size.

2. Place the ball on the jar with the tail down.

3. Cover half of the ball with glue using a brush or just your finger.

* While applying the glue, you can hold the ball by the tail and wiggle it so that the glue spreads evenly. After this, you can place the ball on the jar.

4. Let this layer of glue harden. This will serve as a layer of protection between the ball and the buttons.

5. Apply a second layer of glue and start gluing the buttons - they should fit snugly against each other. Cover the floor of the ball with buttons.

* To prevent the buttons from “sliding” down, after gluing them, turn the ball with its tail up and place it on the jar.

6. Leave the workpiece to dry. This may take several hours.

7. When everything is dry, cover the glued buttons with another layer of glue.

* If necessary, to strengthen the structure, you can apply a fourth layer of glue (after the third layer has dried).

8. Carefully cut off the tail of the ball so that the air slowly comes out of it.

*If necessary, remove excess dried glue using scissors.

Crafts from buttons for children: cars

You will need:

Pin

Buttons

tube

Thin wire

Adhesive tape (electrical tape)

Regular glue (if necessary)

1. Cut two pieces 2.5 cm long from the tube.

2. Pull pieces of wire through the cut tubes and attach to the ends of the button.

3. Make another such blank and insert both into the clothespin - one secured in front, and one in the back, where you need to secure it with electrical tape.

* You can make several of these cars, and make a slide out of cardboard to let the cars go.

Button applique: flowers

You will need:

Buttons

Wire

Felt, drape (or other dense material)

Pliers

1. Prepare one wire and start stringing buttons on it (through one hole).

2. To secure the buttons, the wire must be bent (see image) and passed in the opposite direction through the other hole of each button.

3. Twist the wire after it has gone through all the buttons.

Features of making paintings from buttons

Many people have accumulated quite a lot of such accessories at home. It is quite possible to turn it into wonderful panels and paintings with your own hands. There are a lot of ideas. Some of them are also intended for children. For example, there are many ideas for crafts for kindergarten made from buttons. But more on that later.

Before you start working, you must decide on the plot of the picture. It is also important to choose a style. Some people like abstraction, others gravitate more toward the classics. As for the topic, you can look up something on the Internet or come up with something of your own.

The next step is to transfer the sketch onto the fabric. After this, you can begin to select buttons and try to make different combinations of them like a mosaic. It is better to overlap the patch, so the pattern will be more voluminous.

The most important thing in the work is to choose the right colors and strictly follow the chosen scheme. It is also advisable to try to make the most neat knots.

As soon as the last element is sewn, the fabric must be stretched in the frame. The DIY button craft in the form of a panel is ready.

Nuances of choosing material

The choice of material depends on what exactly you decide to make. In the case of a painting or panel, you can use thread or glue to attach the buttons.

If you settled on the first option, then you should choose their color wisely. The shade of the threads should match the fittings and not distort the image as a whole.

Are you a gluing advocate? Remember that depending on the situation, you can use the following types of glue: PVA, polymer or superglue.

You only need to apply it on the buttons just a little bit so that there are no streaks. Hot glue can also be used. It allows you to adjust and re-glue individual parts.

Interior items

Craftswomen love to use buttons to create original interior decorations. So, they can completely transform an ordinary, boring mirror, adding style and a certain charm to it.
