Children's booties on knitting needles with a description. How to knit baby booties with knitting needles? Baby booties for girls

Preparing for the birth of a child for a mother often becomes a period of creativity and the discovery of hidden talents. Some people start to get interested in sewing future clothes for the baby, while others knit wonderful children's clothes. One of the cutest and most touching items in a baby's wardrobe is rightfully booties.

Types of baby booties for boys and girls

The first shoes of newborn boys and girls can be classified based on their similarity to adult shoes. Among them are:

But this is not the entire list of possible types of booties. There can be many criteria for dividing them:

  • by color (pink for girls, blue for boys and universal colors);
  • according to the seasons (thick for cold weather, openwork for the summer season, etc.);
  • by appearance (“bunnies”, “berries”, “flowers”, “dogs”, “sheep”).

Which version of baby booties will be chosen depends on the desire, mood and creative abilities of the craftswoman.

Tutorial for knitting booties for babies

Any creative work requires some preparation. It is very important that everything you need is at hand, and that all the initial data is obtained.

To knit small children's shoes - booties you will need:

  • knitting needles that must match the thickness of the selected yarn;
  • yarn for knitting in the required colors and quantity;
  • a needle with a large eye, with which parts of the product will be sewn together;
  • decorative elements (beads, satin ribbons, buttons, ribbons, etc.);
  • knitting markers for some types of booties.

Also, it is very important to decide on the size of future booties. To do this, you first need to decide in what time period, in what season and in what weather conditions they will be used.

Based on this, the age of the baby and the size of his legs will be clear. This is very important because children grow very quickly in the first year of life. Booties knitted exclusively for a newborn may no longer fit in size at 3 or 4 months of age.

You can, of course, knit booties with some extra size. However, it is much nicer if they fit like a glove on a tiny leg.

It’s difficult when the knitting process itself occurs when the baby is still in the mother’s tummy, or the booties are made as a gift. For such situations, there are average sizes:

  • for a newborn, the size of the leg is about 7-9 centimeters;
  • from three months to six months – approximately 9-10 centimeters;
  • from six to eight months use data - 11 cm;
  • from eight months to ten – 12 cm;
  • from ten months until the baby reaches one year of age - 13 cm.

This data should help in determining the required size of booties and the correct calculation of loops.

Step-by-step instructions for knitting booties for beginners with patterns and photos

How to knit booties with knitting needles? Don't despair if you have little knitting skills and experience. For every skill level, you can find a model of booties that is sure to turn out great.

Knitted shoes with complex patterns or original design solutions can also be born to beginners. But it’s better, after all, to start by trying to knit a simpler option, for example, this one.

Let's look at the step-by-step description of the process with photos. Knitting begins from the sole according to the proposed garter stitch pattern.

Then, take 4 knitting needles and cast on loops on them from the foot in this way:

  • on the toe of booties – 10 pcs.;
  • on the sides – 20 pcs.;
  • on the heel – 7 pcs.

It is necessary to knit eight rows on 5 knitting needles in a “knit stitch” pattern.

Now we begin to make decreases: we connect two loops together at the meeting points of the “toe” and side knitting needles. For 2 rows, only 4 loops are decreased.

Afterwards, we use only a knitting needle for the toe of our booties and make decreases: take 1 side loop and 1 toe loop and knit together. We turn the knitting over and repeat. Decrements must be made to the following number of stitches:

  • toe – 10 pcs.;
  • side panels – 7 and 8 pcs.;
  • heel – 7 pcs.

Finally, we use the “single elastic” pattern and knit 20 rows on five knitting needles. Then we close the loops and break the thread.

According to the proposed pattern, we knit the dog’s ears and sew them to the main product. We give the dog a nose and eyes.

Using this principle, you can breed rabbits, kittens, and other unknown animals. If you try, you can assemble a whole collection of animals.

The simplest method of knitting booties without a seam with knitting needles - description and photo

Unusual booties can be created with knitting needles without a single seam. They turn out very beautiful and cozy, since nothing from the inside will create discomfort for the baby’s leg. In this case, seamless knitted shoes are perfect for children who are just starting to walk. Therefore, in this lesson we will look at knitting booties for a child aged 10 to 12 months.

To make booties using the seamless technique you will need:

  • five knitting needles, the size of which should correspond to the thickness of the selected threads;
  • yarn (preferably acrylic) – 50 g.

So, how to simply knit booties without a seam with knitting needles? Knitting begins with the bootie cuff. So, we initially cast on 37 loops on the knitting needles. Then we distribute them in equal quantities on four knitting needles.

This should create a neat little square. We knit the very first of the rows with facial loops to connect everything into a circle. To do this, you need to knit two outer loops together.

Next, 12 rows need to be knitted with a single elastic band. To make our booties look beautiful, you can try knitting some kind of holes into which a ribbon, ribbon or decorative cord is then inserted.

To make them, a repeat is knitted (a repeating part of a design, pattern): two knit stitches are knitted together and a single yarn over. After this, we go around the cuff circle with two rows of stockinette stitch in the following order to distribute the stitches on the knitting needles like this:

  • first – 11 loops (joining point in a circle);
  • second - 7 loops;
  • third - 11 loops;
  • fourth - 7 pieces.

Let's move on to the toe of the bootie. We will need a third knitting needle with 11 loops. Without touching the other three knitting needles, we knit 18 reverse rows using the garter stitch technique.

Let's move on to the birth of the "side". To do this, the edge loops of the toe will be used and the previously left area will be put into work. We cast on one loop at a time and knit ten rows using the garter stitch technique.

The next part is the sole of the bootie, which connects to the “side”. It is knitted in stockinette stitch. This process looks like this: we knit 11 loops in the middle; the outermost one is knitted together with the “side” using two loops together. When there are no more loops left on the side knitting needles, knitting in this way ends.

When all the loops have been transferred, the knitting needs to be “closed” by knitting three loops together. We make the closure: the first loop will be the closing one, take the second from the first knitting needle, and the third from the second.

We pull the thread into the very last loop and tighten it, hiding it in a convenient way.

You can decorate the finished booties with a contrasting ribbon with a bow for a girl, or a bright decorative lace with a symbolic knot for a boy.

An easy way to knit openwork booties with knitting needles (photos attached)

Openwork booties look very impressive. Perfect for warm weather. In them, the baby’s foot will “breathe” due to the free circulation of air through the “holes” in the openwork pattern.

Initially, it may seem difficult to knit them. However, this is not at all true. These cute booties for a baby from birth to three months can be created in one free evening without much difficulty or effort. You have to believe that this is a very interesting and exciting activity that can last for a long time.

Let's try to knit these cute openwork shoes.

We start knitting from the soles of the booties. We make a set of loops on the knitting needles in the amount of 31 pcs. Carefully knit 15 rows in garter stitch. Don’t forget to add extra space to the soles of future booties. They will be in the odd rows of our knitting.

Increases should be placed one stitch at the beginning and at the end of the row. And also, on both sides of the 16th loop in the row. We make such additions of loops until the moment when there are 63 loops on the knitting needle. After this, we continue to knit 7 rows with the same garter stitch, but there is no need to add loops.

From the next row, knitting of an openwork pattern begins according to the principle

  • first row - all facial loops;
  • second row - all purl;
  • third row – 2 knit stitches together + yarn over;
  • fourth row - purl loops.

The first row of openwork stripes looks like this:

  • On the front side of the product you need to knit 36 loops;
  • loops that are 37 and 38 must be knitted together;
  • we turn the work around;
  • We knit 10 loops purlwise;
  • We knit the 11th and 12th loops together purlwise;
  • the next row is directly openwork stripes (yarn over and 2 loops together).

You need to be very careful not to get lost because of the yarn overs. It is worth remembering that there must be 10 loops in the center. We knit the 11th and 12th together. Openwork stripes should be repeated after three rows in the fourth.

We knit in this pattern until there are 14 stitches left on both sides. After this, we knit the side loops (14 pcs.) and middle loops (10 pcs.). You should get 24 rows of openwork stripes looking up. We close the loops.

The next stage is the assembly of the product. You need to sew the top, back and sole.

Following this simple pattern, you get beautiful “openwork boots” booties - fashionable and stylish. Using different colors and their combinations, each new pair of these booties will look completely different than the previous one.

Stylish knitted booties-sneakers for a newborn: master class with photos

From birth, a child should be instilled with a sense of beauty. This applies to the choice of clothes and shoes too. Small knitted booties in the form of sports sneakers will make your child noticeable and bright while walking in the fresh air.

Knitting such stylish shoes for a baby is not very difficult. The main thing is to choose and distribute the colors of the yarn correctly to create a pattern that resembles adult sneakers.

To knit such booties for ages from 0 to 3 months (for a newborn), you will need the following:

  1. White, red and blue yarn in the amount of 100 g;
  2. Five knitting needles No. 3.5;
  3. Sewing needle;
  4. Hook;
  5. Marker for knitting.

It is very convenient that the entire product will be knitted in garter stitch.

So, we cast on 38 loops on the knitting needles and knit the very first row only with facial loops. Take a knitting marker and place it in the middle of the knitting.

We begin to add loops: 2 loops on each side of the knitting in every 2nd row. In addition, an increase must be made in the middle according to the following scheme:

  • edge loop;
  • one yarn over;
  • 17 facial loops;
  • again one yarn over;
  • knit two knits;
  • again one yarn over;
  • 17 knit stitches;
  • one yarn over;
  • edge loop.

In the next row we knit 19 loops, in the next 21 and so on. As a result, you need to reach 54 loops (counting them together with the edge loops). The result should be the bottom of the sole of chic booties.

We move on to knitting the side of the sole. It is necessary to knit the front row with purl stitches and vice versa. This technique is necessary to give the booties their shape. As for the height, the needlewoman chooses it at her own discretion.

We continue to knit with knit stitches until the marker is placed. Next, we move on to shaping the sock. To do this, you need to knit in short rows - two loops before the marker and the same number after it. Then we begin to add one loop at the end of each row. You need to reach 12 loops.

We knit this way without adding (increase). We connect the 12th loop to the side one. Using this technique, we knit 6 rows with white (light) yarn, and the other three with blue yarn.

We continue to knit with blue threads until the required length, and then the part needs to be tied.

Let's start with the sides of our knitted sneakers. We knit all the loops and increase the number of 4 loops towards the toe of the product in each row.

So, there should be 38 loops left. We knit four rows, which visually look like two. We begin to carefully reduce. This must be done every time in the second row at the very beginning and at the end.

In the same place you need to make decorative holes for the laces. To make them beautiful, you should knit them like this: tie two loops together and make one yarn over. We hem the sole of the resulting sneakers and tie the side part.

You can crochet a small cord or buy a ready-made one. Insert it into the holes prepared in advance and tighten nicely.

Even a beginner can knit such simple booties. Everything is quite simple and clear.

Baby booties on 2 knitting needles for beginners

On two knitting needles you can knit a large number of the most incredible booties in design. At the end they can be decorated with various decorative elements:

  1. Pompoms;
  2. Beads;
  3. Ribbons;
  4. Braid;
  5. Buttons;
  6. Embroidery, etc.

To work you will need 2 knitting needles and 50 grams of yarn of the color you choose, and a needle for stitching the parts.

Let's take a closer look at how to knit baby booties on 2 knitting needles. Cast on 39 stitches on 2 knitting needles using the classic method. We take out one knitting needle and start knitting. You can choose an elastic band pattern. With it, the booties will fit the baby's leg well. Another option is garter stitch. This pattern also looks beautiful.

We begin to knit the cuffs of future booties of the required height. The path, in our case, will be 18 rows and we will make holes for a lace or ribbon so that the booties do not fall off the legs and hold tightly during the active movements of the baby. We knit a purl row.

Now you need to divide the resulting knitting into 3 equal parts of 13 loops each and knit the first of them, and then set aside. Now we take the middle 13 loops and knit the part to the desired length, which depends on the selected size, for example, 14 rows for a leg size of 8 cm.

Without tearing off the thread during knitting, we begin to lift the loops on the right with the knitting needle on which the postponed loops are located. So, we knit the middle loops with the same knitting needle and raise absolutely the same number of loops as on the right side. We knit them all and the stitches that were still put aside.

We begin to knit the side of the booties. To do this we use all the loops.

Let's move on to the sole of our product. We'll have to share again. We take the knitting and divide it like this: 13 middle loops, another 13 loops along with those that were raised on the sides of the middle part (details). You should get 21 loops (right and left). We knit 21 stitches on the left (wrong side row) and set aside.

We knit the loops of our sole like this: at the end of each row we need to knit together the last loop taken from the middle ones and the first one from the set aside ones. This must be continued until there are 6 stitches left on the first and second knitting needles.

The needle is inserted into the work. With its help, we remove the remaining loops and fasten them.

Now the product needs to be sewn at the back and turned inside out. Decorate with decorative elements.

In your work, you can use different patterns in combination or use only one.

So that the result of the finished booties pleases the eye, and they themselves retain their cute original appearance longer, you should give a few tips:

  1. It is important to choose the exact size of the booties. To do this, you need to measure your baby's foot from heel to big toe. Based on this, correctly calculate the set of loops on the knitting needles.
  2. Do not choose threads that are too thick. The product will look rough. But if this was planned in advance, then you can also try to make beautiful booties from bulky yarn.
  3. Knitting needles need to be selected according to the thickness of the yarn. Typically, recommendations for their size are indicated on the labels for the skeins.
  4. It is not recommended to use poorly sewn small parts on booties. The baby can easily tear them off and swallow them.
  5. There's no need to rush. Handmade things look good when they are done slowly, with love and due diligence.
  6. You can use a crochet hook to add additional lace elements and details to the booties.

Knitting booties on knitting needles is quite simple. Choose the version of children's shoes that you like best and knit to your heart's content. Maybe, thanks to your imagination, you will come up with new designs for baby booties!

Further. we knit 13 purl stripes without additions (26 rows). Next, we make one yarn over on each side and knit 15 loops without adding, so you get 23 stripes or 46 rows. After this, we gradually decrease the loops: on each side, at the beginning and at the end of the odd rows, we knit two loops together, and perform such decreases until there are 7 loops left on the knitting needles. Then close the loops.

Next, using a white thread, we cast on four knitting needles in a circle around the sole of the loop so that there are 12 loops for the toe, and an even number of loops on the remaining knitting needles. We knit in circular rows with facial loops. In the 2nd row we proceed as follows: knit 2 together, yarn over. Repeat this way until the end of the row. The 3rd and 4th rows are performed with facial loops. Tie a white thread and cut it. Further. knit in circular rows with pink thread, forming “teeth”. 3rd row: facial loops.
4th row: add 1 p., k4, p1, k12.
5th row: knit stitches.
6th row: add 1 stitch, knit 5, purl 1, knit 12.
7th row: facial loops.
8th row: 6 persons. = sole. 1 purl, 12 knits. Repeat 7th + 8th row 13 times.
The straight part of the shoe is finished. Next, knit 6 stitches of the sole in garter stitch, purl 1, the next 12 stitches = the upper part of the shoe - in a fantasy pattern, starting from the 3rd transverse strip of the purl stitch, knit the loops of the sole in shortened rows as follows: in every 2nd r. knit only 3 stitches of the sole, turn the work, knit 3 stitches in the opposite direction, turn the work and knit all 6 stitches. Starting from the 7th transverse strip of the purl stitch of the upper part of the shoe, finish the work with shortened rows, i.e. e. knit all 6 stitches of the sole as usual. After 57 r. For a fancy pattern, knit all the stitches of the upper part of the shoe in garter stitch. After 28 r. subtract 1 x 1 st on both sides of the sole loops, knit another 1 p. and close all loops.

Assembly: attach a white thread on top of the fantasy pattern of the upper part of the shoe and cast on 25 sts along the right edge, starting from the heel. Add 2 sts to them and cast on 25 sts along the left edge = 52 sts. Knit 4 cm with an elastic band, then bind off all the loops. Sew the seams of the upper part of the shoe and the sole; for the lapel, sew half a seam along the front side of the shoe.

1. KNITTING BABY BOOTS WITH SPOKES. AN EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE FOR BEGINNERS

You have to wait another month before your long-awaited baby is born, but you already want to create something useful and beautiful for your baby with your own hands? And what could be better for a newborn baby than cozy, warm, comfortable clothes knitted by the gentle hands of a loving mother? :) Some parents believe in omens and are afraid to knit clothes for the baby, who is still under the mother’s heart. But we advise you to discard these prejudices and knit beautiful booties without seams with your own hands. Moreover, it wouldn’t hurt to have such comfortable shoes for a newborn in your maternity hospital kit for discharge.

In this material we have posted for you video and photo master classes for beginners that will help you knit the simplest booties with knitting needles. Even if you have just mastered the basics of knitting, the step-by-step lessons are simple and very clear... so you can safely choose high-quality baby yarn, knitting needles and get down to business! :)

When a newborn appears in a family, every mother wants to give him warmth, love and care.

Manifestations of these feelings can be very different: you can sing lullabies to the child, scrupulously monitor his diet, tell fairy tales to the baby, play and pamper him.

Or you can give him a gift with your own hands! The most appropriate and relevant in the first months of your baby’s life will be the booties you knit for your baby.

Baby's first shoes are booties. But he needs them not only when he starts sitting, crawling or walking. Already a newborn baby needs such a comfortable and warm piece of clothing. In booties, his feet will not only not freeze, but will also gradually begin to prepare for wearing shoes with hard soles.

If we talk about knitting booties, the question often arises: what yarn is better to choose for booties? There are several answer options: you can choose a wool or cotton thread of appropriate thickness, or you can prefer acrylic or mixed yarn.

If you are going to put booties on bare feet, make sure that the thread is soft and does not prick, then the child will not experience skin irritation from contact with this type of shoe.

Since babies often pull their feet into their mouths, choose expensive and branded yarn for booties - this is a guarantee that only high-quality dyes were used in the manufacture of the thread.

Many stores sell special threads “for children” that are completely harmless and hypoallergenic.

If you are knitting booties for a boy, choose threads of blue, blue, and lilac colors. For girls, pink, red, raspberry or orange booties will be more appropriate. Yellow and green are considered universal colors here - they are suitable for all babies.

Finished products can be decorated. For this, it is good to use ready-made appliqués, embroidery, satin ribbons, and crocheted flowers.

The size of the booties directly depends on the age of the baby. Here is an approximate table of correspondence between the age and length of the baby’s feet:

  • up to 3 months – 80-90 mm;
  • from 3 to 6 – 90-100 mm;
  • from 6 to 8 – 110 mm;
  • from 8 to 10 – 120 mm;
  • from 10 to 12 – 130 mm.

Famous "Marshmallows"
These little shoes are knitted in one evening using yarn in contrasting colors. We will need wool yarn of the main color (from 50 g) and a small skein of an additional color. For knitting, it is better to use stocking needles No. 3. “Marshmallows” are knitted on just two needles, and even a novice needlewoman can handle them.

The description gives booties for a baby from birth to 3 months, that is, with a foot length of up to 9 cm. If you need larger booties, add a few loops. Exactly how much will depend on the thickness of the yarn used. Look at the knitted pattern - usually 2 to 4 loops are placed in 1 cm.

First, cast on 25 loops with a thread of the main color. It is better to leave the tip of the thread longer when casting on loops - about 25 cm - we will need it for sewing the shoe. Now we knit a fabric of 12-15 cm (this is approximately 45-50 rows). We use garter stitch when both knit and purl rows are knitted with knit stitches. This will be the back of the bootie.

After this, close off 10 loops and attach a thread of an auxiliary color right in the middle of the row. We finish the row with it, knitting with facial loops. We turn the knitting and continue to knit three more rows in an additional color, but in stocking stitch, that is, we knit the front rows with knit stitches, and the purl rows with purl stitches.

Don’t forget to stretch the thread of the main color along the side - now we will need it to continue the fabric. We knit the following four rows with the main thread: 1st - knit, 2nd - knit, 3rd - purl, 4th - knit again.

We move on to a thread of an additional color (also stretched along the side of the knitting) and work 4 rows of stockinette stitch. We alternate stripes of two colors until you get 8 stripes of an additional color and 7 stripes of the main color. We close the knitting loops, again leaving the tip of the thread longer. The base for the booties is ready.

Now we begin to assemble the shoe, which we carry out on the wrong side of the product.

First, we sew the resulting “accordion” to the beginning of the fabric. Sew the sole of the booties (the part that is knitted with the main thread). We tighten it with thread, having previously attached the colored part to a large needle. Secure with a couple of stitches.

To form the upper part of the sock, we sew the other side of the “accordion” with large stitches and carefully pull it together, securing the thread.

Turn the bootie right side out, fold up the cuff and decorate the central part of the top with a bow, pompom, flower or beads. Using a crochet hook, you can thread a ribbon directly through the cuff fabric for tying or a crocheted braid made from air loops.
This video demonstrates the step-by-step production of the Marshmallow bootie.

The simplest ones to make are booties with one seam and a round sole.

You will need circular knitting needles No. 3 and 100 g of fine wool yarn. These booties are designed for the feet of a one-month-old baby. If you need larger pieces, either cast on more stitches or choose thicker thread.

We knit the sole:

Cast on 33 stitches + 2 edge stitches.

Row 1: remove the first edge loop, knit 33 with knit stitches, and purl the last stitch.

Row 2: Slip 1, yarn over, 15 knit stitches, yarn over, knit 3, yarn over, knit 15 stitches again, yarn over, purl.

Row 3: Edge loop, 37 knit stitches, edge stitch.

Row 4: Edge loop, yarn over, knit 16 knit stitches, yarn over, 5 knit stitches, yarn over, knit 16 again, yarn over, purl (edge loop).

Row 5: edge, 41 knit stitches, edge.
Row 6: edge stitch, yarn over, knit 17 knit stitches, yarn over, 7 knit stitches, yarn over, knit 17 again, yarn over, edge loop.

Row 7: edge, 45 knit stitches, edge.

Row 8: edge, yarn over, knit 18 knit stitches, yarn over, 9 knit stitches, knit 18 again, yarn over, edge stitch.

Row 9: edge, knit 25 knit stitches, yarn over, 26 knit stitches.

We knit the rise:

Rows 10-20: edge loops, front loops, edge loops.

We knit the upper part of the booties:

Row 21: edge, knit 29 knit stitches, knit 2 stitches together and turn knitting.

Row 22:

Row 23: Remove 1 loop, knit 8 knit stitches, knit 2 knit stitches together and turn the knitting.

Row 24: Remove 1 loop, knit 8 purl loops, purl 2 loops together and turn the knitting.

Rows 25-36: alternate rows 23 and 24.

Row 37: Remove 1 loop, knit 9 knit stitches, then 12 more knit stitches, edge stitch.

We knit an elastic band:

Row 38: edge, 34 front, edge.

Rows 39-58: knit an elastic band 1*1, where you alternate 1 knit with 1 purl.

Close the loops. To do this, knit 2 stitches with one knit stitch and return it to the knitting needle. Then knit this new loop together with the next loop, return it to the knitting needle again, etc.

Connecting the parts:

Sew the resulting sock so that the seam is on the heel, while bending the elastic. Now knit a pair for this bootie and decorate the finished products.

You will need five straight needles No. 3 and acrylic thread 50g/150m. These booties have a rectangular sole and no seams. If you knit these baby shoes in two threads, you will get booties that will fit a newborn’s feet.

Knitting cuffs:

Cast on 32 loops on the knitting needles and distribute them 8 loops per knitting needle, eventually all the loops will be on four knitting needles. Combine all knitting into one circle.

Rows 1-12: knit with purl stitches.

Row 13: tie two stitches together with one knit stitch, yarn over, two stitches together again, etc.

Row 14: knit with facial loops.

Distribute all the loops so that there are 7 loops on the first needle, 9 on the second, 7 on the third, and 9 on the fourth.

Knitting the toe of the booties:

Row 15: knit the first two knitting needles with knit stitches (the last edge stitch) and turn the knitting;

Row 16: knit the same knitting needles in the opposite direction using purl stitches.

Row 17-30: repeat rows 15 and 16 alternately.

We knit the side:

Cast on one knitting needle from each edge stitch on the side parts of the toe. Put the previously set aside loops into work by knitting them.

Rows 30-38: knit with purl stitches.

We knit the sole:

To do this, when knitting the next row with stockinette stitch, connect it with the borders, that is, combine each last loop in the row into one with the border loop. Knit the sole until there are no more stitches on the side needles.

Place all stitches on one needle. To do this, remove one loop from the first knitting needle, one from the second, etc. Then, knitting three loops at a time, cast off all 18 loops.

Repeat all the manipulations to knit the second bootie. Using a hook, tie 2 long laces of 45-50 cm each and thread them through the holes under the cuffs. Now you can decorate the booties.

Any baby booties you knit can be decorated not only with all kinds of appliqués, but also by playing with the colors of the threads. You can make the booties striped, use different colors for the top and sole of the booties, or choose a lace that contrasts with the products.

Also, booties look interesting if you use melange threads in their manufacture, or knit two threads at once, different from each other in color. By using your imagination, you can turn these soft shoes for little children's feet into a real work of art.

Not long ago I became a grandmother. Being an experienced knitter, I wanted to give my grandson his first shoes - booties. With what surprise I learned that over 20 years so many of their modifications have appeared! Knitted “ballet flats”, “sandals”, “sneakers”, “boots”, some fabulous “shoes” and “slippers”...

But, having carefully studied the topic, I understood everything: they are knitted according to the principle of those first, well-known booties. Therefore, I recommend that beginners start with them and improve based on the experience gained. Make simple knitted booties for newborns with me - I will share with you a detailed description of the work.

Preparing for knitting

The type of finished product depends on the diameter of the knitting needles, the thickness of the thread and your individual knitting density. On the thread packaging, the manufacturer usually indicates the corresponding number of knitting needles, as well as the approximate number of loops and rows that need to be knitted to make a 10x10 cm square. But this is only approximately.

For beginners, I recommend knitting booties for newborns from the sole - this is the initial part, on the size of which everything else will depend. Therefore, it is advisable to trace the child’s foot and cut out the pattern. We will knit using it. This first shoe is knitted equally on both feet: you don't need patterns for the right and left feet.

You will need: sole pattern, knitting needles and threads, and scissors for cutting off their ends.

  • You can knit the booties using baby knitting needles on two needles and then sew the pieces together in the right places. In this case, also stock up on a knitted or simple needle with a large eye.
  • If you want to make baby booties without any seams, then take 5 identical hosiery knitting needles without tips or use circular knitting needles. But using them requires some skill.

So, the preparatory work has been done, everything you need is in your hands - you can start!

Booties for boys

Knitting technology for boys and girls is no different. The only difference is in the selection of pattern and thread color.

Step-by-step knitting booties

Knitting the sole

Knitting a sock

It is necessary to allocate 1/5 of the loops on it, just like on the heel. Subtract these 2/5 from the total and divide by 2. This will be one side.

  • Knit half the heel stitches (after all, the seam will be in the middle), one side and the toe piece. Moreover, knit the last loop of the sock and the first loop of the second side stitch together. Turn knitting.
  • Remove the edge and knit with knit stitches, knitting together the last stitch of the sock and the first stitch of the sides in the same way. Turn knitting. The sides will gradually give off one inner loop at a time to form the sock.
  • Knit in this way until the top of the sock is equal to half of the foot pattern. The last row should be knitted on the front side.

Knitting the boot

  • Knit the second side, and you will have the entire product on the knitting needle.
  • Tie a flat fabric with an elastic band of the required length.
  • Finish with a garter stitch lapel the same length as the elastic. Close the entire row.

Assembly

Fold the product in half with the right side facing inward. Sew.

Knitted booties for newborn boys – video

We ended up with a square toe. The video clearly shows how to round it. All instructions are also given on how to properly sew the booties so that the seams are not visible.

Despite the fact that I have a grandson, I also looked at the girl’s page. It's still more diverse there. But most of all I liked the “marshmallows”: this pattern for knitting booties for newborn girls allows you to realize any fantasy.

Booties for girls

Any colors of yarn, their shades or a harmonious combination will do. But for beginners, you should first knit a single-color product.

Step-by-step knitting “marshmallows”

  • Determine the height of the future booties, measuring from the edge of the sole, and add 2-3 cm.
  • Count the required number of loops.
  • Knit a straight fabric in garter stitch with a length equal to half the perimeter of the sole pattern.
  • From one edge, close the loops, the number corresponding to the length of the boot (from the top edge to the instep of the child’s foot).
  • Knit a fabric consisting of 4 stripes in stockinette stitch and 3 stripes in garter stitch between them. Each stripe is equal to 4 rows. Start and end with stripes of stockinette stitch. Close the entire row.
  • Join the very first row and the one just closed and sew. You have a flattened boot.
  • Sew the unsewn edge of the striped fabric along the edge with a simple seam and pull tightly.

Then you can do nothing and just unscrew the parts of the boot. Or you can sew it up to the top edge.
As an option, knit a flat fabric the width of the striped part and a length corresponding to the perimeter of the sole pattern. After sewing the side piece along the bottom of the product and tightening the nose piece, pick up stitches along the top edge of the product. Next, knit booties for newborns using circular knitting needles, and your booties will be seamless.

Knitted booties for newborn girls – video

After watching the video, you will understand and realize everything described above. As a gift - secret seam technology.

  • Always knit a swatch for an adequate stitch count.
  • Make patterns and adjust the knitting parts to fit them.
  • Knit for children only from natural yarn.
  • For decorations, use beads, beads, curly buttons or special stripes (eyes, nose, tongue), satin or organza ribbons. All this is sold in craft stores. The main thing is to sew it firmly so that the child does not accidentally tear off a small part and swallow it, or put it in his ear or nose.
  • Or tie a narrow braid using stockinette stitch and form a bow from it.
  • In booties for children who can walk, insert an insole inside.
  • To prevent them from flying off the foot, thread the laces above the heel.

If you knit booties from yarn of different colors, then it should be:

  • chosen harmoniously;
  • match the tone of most of your child's things;
  • equal in thickness.

If you still have free time for needlework, you can. For this you also do not need much professionalism. Do you want to do something else with your own hands? Write in the comments.
