Publications on the topic:

Individual correctional and developmental work. Developing speech breathing game for a 4-5 year old child with ODD Goal: to develop a long, targeted exhalation. Equipment: a piece of cotton wool, a picture of a bullfinch, a mnemonic table for memorization.

I sewed this book for a 4-year-old girl, Varenka. I sewed a similar book for the children in my studio. (Unfortunately there is no photo). Children play with a huge one.

This book is primarily intended for the development of fine motor skills of the fingers in children 3-7 years old, and can also be used as an additional book.

Dear colleagues, I present to your attention a “Developmental book for kids.” I made it from different materials: fabric, small soft ones.

Even when I was pregnant, the idea came to me to make an educational book with my own hands. I started looking for different ideas, and I didn’t even suspect that there were any.

A lot of games have been purchased for children's sensory development. But I had thoughts of making an educational book with my own hands for kids.

You can sew such a wonderful book with your own hands. Which will be not only a beautiful, but also a useful gift for your baby.

With the birth of my first daughter, I was inspired by this idea. I bought felt and began to gradually master sewing developments. Of course, at first it turned out a little crooked, lopsided, but over time, having gained enough experience, it began to turn out neater and more beautiful.

In addition, I didn’t understand felt at all, that is, I didn’t even have anything to compare it with. And, as it turns out, a lot depends on it, in particular the quality of the product.

As far as I remember, I have about 10 educational books made of felt. Somewhere only this material was used, somewhere it was combined with other fabrics. But an integral part of development, without which nothing can be achieved, is imagination and creative thinking.

At the moment there is not a single product I have sewn at home. I sold something, donated something. I gave the last book about colors, which you will learn about later, to my youngest daughter in kindergarten.

Believe me, even if you have never picked up this material, much less sewed on a sewing machine, you will still succeed in something. Many mothers sew for their children by hand. And it’s a hundred times more pleasant than a similar industrial analogue.

In general, felt is an incredible material. It is light, durable, and the edges do not fray. The only drawback is the price, especially the Korean one. But I will tell you about this later.

How to sew an educational book from felt with your own hands

If you suddenly want to sew an educational book out of felt with your own hands, then you need to first work with the idea.

  • What age will the book be for?
  • What size (usually they sew 20x20 centimeters, but sometimes 18x18)?
  • Will you use only felt or another material? I had a book where I used cotton and fleece in addition to felt.
  • Draw a sketch of an educational book on pieces of paper. What plots will you use, what details will be developing. Consider everything, right down to the button and ribbon.
  • Make a list of the materials you will need for sewing. As a rule, this is felt itself in various colors, fabric, ribbons, clasps, buttons, beads, Velcro, buttons, and so on.
  • Based on their sketch, make patterns for each detail. This was the most difficult and tedious stage for me personally. But the quality and accuracy of the product itself depends on this.

Patterns are very easy to find on the Internet. For example, children's coloring books will work perfectly as a sketch of a detail. Many people do this: they find the desired design in pictures, print it out in the required size and cut it out.

Which fert to choose for an educational book?

There are several felt manufacturers: China, Korea, Spain, Russia. I’ll talk a little about the first two, since they were the only ones I dealt with.

Chinese felt it is of lower quality, rough, and after a while pellets appear on it, but it is much cheaper than the Korean one. It is perfect for beginner needlewomen, so to speak, for training.

Korean felt- the best. It does not roll down, does not wrinkle, it is brighter and more pleasant to the touch, but it is a little expensive.

The thickness of felt can also be different - 1 mm, 2mm, 3mm, 4 and even 5. Korean felt is divided into 2 more subtypes - hard (ideal for educational books, cards) and soft (used for sewing bulky toys and educational toys).

And so, you have decided what you will sew, what material to work with, and all that remains is to purchase it all. If you have pieces of fabric and accessories lying around somewhere, then you are very lucky. Well, felt, as a rule, is sold in sets of various colors and shades. One set will be more than enough for you. Otherwise, you can buy exactly the colors that are needed to create an educational felt book.

You can see examples of hard felt sets Here, with whom it is a pleasure to work or sheets separately. I recommend this online store to everyone to purchase the necessary materials. I order there myself.

Now all that's left to do is cut out all the details, sew them to the pages, seal the pages if necessary, assemble sheets from them and assemble the sheets into a book.

The binding of soft books can also be different. I will not dwell on this separately. Since this is a separate topic that should be accompanied by a master class with photographs. And they are available in huge quantities on the Internet.

If you decide to sew a book whose pages are made of fabric (fleece, cotton), then be sure to make a lining from thick fabric or padding polyester. This is necessary in order to give rigidity to the page. In the case of hard felt, you don’t have to do this, since it itself holds its shape perfectly.

DIY felt educational books: my work and ideas for inspiration

I'll start, perhaps, with the earliest works. They were made as a gift. Here you can see the imperfection of technology. But again, everything comes with experience, so don’t judge too harshly.)) If we talk about age, then most likely these books are suitable for children from 2 to 3-4 years old. They have many puzzles and accessories that help develop fine motor skills and thinking.

Option 1. Book with a bear.

The cover is simple and made in the form of an applique made of hard felt, and the base is made of Chinese. The book has 4 spreads.

Insects on buttons - learning colors. A crooked mushroom with animals hiding behind the leaf and the door.

The following pages have all the details on Velcro.

Tale of a bun. The fox, the hare, the wolf and the bear and the bun are separate independent parts.

And the last spread is a lacing, where a mouse is looking for a way in a hole and a small scene for studying the phenomenon - day and night. The curtain is assembled into an improvised tie with a button.

Option 2. Book with a snail.

This product is small and has only 3 spreads. Designed for children up to 3 years old.

Page with a bee and her house. The flowers are removable with buttons. For games, the set includes a butterfly, which is attached to the finger on the back side with an elastic band.

Sea World. The fish are attached with Velcro, and the octopus acts as a pocket for the fish.

Here is lacing and a page for learning shapes and forms.

Baby educational book made of felt

I sewed it for my second daughter when she was one year old. It literally took a couple of hours for it to be completely ready. The book is small in size, 15x15 cm. It is almost entirely sewn from hard Korean felt. The exception is moth wings, which are made of cotton.

Here is the clasp cover.

The wings are rustling, there is a baking bag inside, it produces excellent sound when pressed. Caterpillar with hanging legs.

Search page. The duck and cloud can be moved back and forth along the cord. Velcro spider.

And finally, I left my best products, which have also already been given away. I'm very proud of them!

Felt book “Merry Rainbow”

It is based on the children's cartoon of the same name. And it is completely sewn from Korean hard felt. There are magnets glued inside the pages on four sides and inside the removable figures. They are not visible, so the product looks neat. Surely, you guessed that the book is intended for studying colors and developing a child’s horizons.

However, see for yourself.

All details of the pyramid are on Velcro.

Felt alphabet

Well, the last book for today is the fruit of my long hours of sewing. The book turned out to be super durable and even the playful little hands of little ones are not able to tear it. This means that it will serve faithfully even the smallest pranksters.

Sewing the book turned out to be easy, but time-consuming. I also took patterns from children's coloring books. For this case, I specially bought grommets and a special installer. This is how the work acquired a presentable appearance.

That's all for today! Do you sew anything from felt? In the next article I will show you a felt dollhouse, don’t miss it and subscribe to blog updates! Bye!

An article about how to make an educational book for a child with your own hands. Description of all stages of work and all the subtleties that you need to know in order to sew a beautiful baby book.

By touching objects with their fingers, young children receive information about the world around them. The child learns to understand what is cold, what is hot, that objects are sharp, soft, rough, smooth.

Children like soft and warm things and it is no coincidence that they are worn from morning to evening with soft toys and do not part when they go to bed. This is why children really love soft fabric books that parents can sew themselves.

Homemade books for kindergarten with your own hands from felt step-by-step instructions

By playing with soft books, children can learn:

  • Understand the difference between large and small objects
  • Remember what a circle, square, triangle and rectangle look like and what they are called
  • Count to ten and solve addition and subtraction problems
  • Solve logical problems in which the child determines whether the color and object correspond to its place
  • Learn to tie a bow and braid a pigtail
  • Learn letters

In order to make a book from fabric at home you need to stock up

  • felt of different colors
  • fabric that will be the basis for the pages
  • suitable thread for sewing
  • a piece of padding polyester

You can calculate the amount of materials for sewing if you have decided how many pages there will be in your book and what size these pages will be. If the pages are of different colors, you will have to make calculations for each color separately.

Make a template out of paper the length and width of the book page. Next you will need to calculate how many such pages will fit on the width of the fabric you are going to buy.

Do not forget that since each page will be sewn from two pieces of fabric, you will need twice as much fabric

Inside the pages you will need to put padding polyester and sealing fabric so that the pages do not wrinkle and appliqués, buttons, buttons and other stripes hold firmly.

DIY soft educational book ideas

Next, you will need to figure out what will be on each page of the book. For example, you can make a page where the child will learn what the colors of the rainbow are called. You can bring this idea to life by sewing multi-colored buttons onto the fabric that match these colors.

If you make numbers in the book with Velcro, your child will be able to stick them in place and learn to count.

For a math page, make plus, minus and equal signs. This way you can solve simple examples and problems right in the book. Instead of numbers, for the little ones, sometimes they use figures of animals and insects, fruits and vegetables.

On such a page, the child will be able to attach multi-colored circles that will match the color of the feathers on the peacock’s tail.

And on this page, pyramid strips are attached to the baby book with Velcro, which need to be folded from small to large.

The flowers are removed and put on with buttons. A bug sits under a leaf. On this page you can remember which flowers need to be put on yellow, red and blue buttons.

A soft puzzle with Velcro on a book page. The baby will have to work hard to fold it.

Soft geometric shapes fastened with buttons, on the adjacent page there is a zipper in all the colors of the rainbow.

Do-it-yourself educational book for little ones made from felt: step-by-step instructions

To make it easier to sew a book, make sketches on paper for the most difficult pages to sew. Draw animal figures, flowers, geometric shapes. You can use ready-made templates for these purposes. After the idea is thought up and a sketch is made, it’s time to start sewing the pages.

Each page of the book consists of fabric, which will be the face of the page, and adhesive fabric of the same size.

  1. Iron on the sealing adhesive fabric to the face fabric
  2. Cut out figures for applique and small parts for figures from felt.
  3. Hand-assemble figurines of animals, flowers, numbers and letters
  4. Machine sew all the details
  5. Pin the finished appliqués to the fabric or attach them with a few stitches by hand using a needle.
  6. Using a zigzag or straight stitch, sew the shapes onto the page.

The pages of a book where animals seem to be sitting in the grass, flowers or trees look interesting.

How to make Velcro appliques?

You can sew Velcro directly onto the felt from the wrong side. But, if you have doubts that during the process of tearing off and gluing the figure with Velcro will not tear, then you can lay a sealing fabric under the felt. Sew a square of Velcro onto a thick fabric larger than the applique.

  1. Place the sealing fabric on the back of the applique in the center
  2. Pin and zigzag sew the applique to the backing fabric.
  3. Then carefully trim the protruding edge of the fabric with scissors.
  4. Sew all the pieces together

If the applique is small, then the Velcro can be sewn not in the center, but along the contour of the part. You can learn in detail how to do this by watching the video. The second soft side of the Velcro is sewn directly to the book page.

After all the appliqués, buttons, laces and other details are sewn on, you can begin sewing the pages and assembling the book. Take the fabric with sewn appliqués, lay it face down on the table, place the padding polyester on top and the second part of the page face up.

Now you can sew the page manually along the edge, and then trim off the protruding edges of the padding polyester. The edge of the page is trimmed with trim as shown in the following video.

To assemble the pages of a book into a binding, a strip of fabric is attached to them. The line goes from the inside out, so when you turn the book you can see a neat transition from one page to another. The stages of working with binding can be seen more clearly in the video below.

Video: how to stitch the binding of a soft book?

When the pages are sewn on, all that remains is to beautifully close the binding with a piece of fabric. It is sewn by hand and then sewn to the book with one line. How to do this is described in detail in the fourth video.

DIY soft educational book: patterns

Cutting out a fabric base for a homemade book in the form of rectangles will probably not be too difficult. Just decide what length and width the pages will be and transfer the dimensions to the fabric. Before work, count how many pieces of fabric you need to cut out. You will need twice as many of them as there will be pages in your book plus fabric for the cover.

It is more difficult to cut blanks from fabric for figures of animals, insects, berries, flowers, and leaves. You will need to draw sketches on paper, cut them out with scissors and transfer them to fabric. If you don’t know how to draw, ready-made templates for such drawings will come to your aid.

Advice for those who want to decorate a soft book in an unusual way - look for drawings in black and white pictures for coloring

Cut out the design you like with scissors and transfer it to the fabric. Eyes, nose, mouth and ears can be decorated with buttons, beads, embroidery or contrasting fabrics.

DIY baby book for kindergarten made of fabric

In fact, there are no strict rules or restrictions for parents who want to sew a baby book themselves. You can choose a simplified version of the book, where the cover will be separate and the pages will simply be inserted inside. To sew a page, glue an adhesive sealing fabric to the fabric from which the page will be made from the reverse side, then sew appliqués onto it.

Fold the fabric in half with the appliqués facing inward. Sew around the perimeter of the page, leaving one side unstitched. Then turn the page blank right side out and insert a padding polyester rectangle inside, which will be 2 cm smaller in width and length than the page.

Hand or machine baste the fourth raw side. The page is ready. Now make the remaining pages and cover. The cover for such a book will simply bend in the middle.

Cover length is twice the length of pages plus you will need to add an allowance for the volume of nested pages. You can find out the size of the allowance if you stack the finished pages and use a ruler to measure the height of the stack.

If you wish, you can fasten the pages to the cover with stitches, or you don’t have to do this because it may be more interesting for the child to disassemble and assemble the pages of the book.

How to make a baby book with your own hands for school?

For school, children can easily make a baby book with their own hands. Of course, all parents want to help their child in this matter. Because they don’t cut the paper evenly enough, they don’t cut it very beautifully, and they write a little crookedly.

But if you do all the work for them yourself, will they be proud of this book? Will you, looking through your child’s children’s drawings and finding this very book that you, and not the child, made, look through its pages with a smile? Therefore, give the author, that is, your child, complete freedom and allow him to cut, paste, write and draw what he wants in his own book.

How to make a book with your own hands from paper?

A paper book can be glued together, the pages can be sewn together with a needle and thread, or the pages can be stapled together. Most often, standard books are made in the form of a notebook or album, but sheets of fancy, free-form shapes look more interesting.

If you want to create a baby book of a non-standard shape, then it will be most convenient to make pages using a stencil. Cut out one sheet of thick paper and copy the rest of the sheets from it. Inside the baby book there can be poems, sayings, drawings and applications. Topics for books are sometimes set by the teacher at school, and on free themes it is interesting to write fairy tales and draw illustrations for them yourself.

Video: Soft educational book with your own hands

You can make a colorful book for kids yourself.

To do this you will need the following available materials:

  • photo;
  • paper;
  • cardboard;
  • textile.

With the help of such homemade products you can develop your children.

There are 3 types of homemade books:

  • paper version;
  • photo books;
  • educational books made of textiles.

Homemade book made of cardboard or paper

In the photo of a children's book intended for a baby who is not yet a year old, you can see large subject pictures. It's best to group images by topic.

You can make various books for a one-year-old baby. Each of them can be dedicated to one of the topics: “Pets”, “Food”, “Toys”.

Knowing how to make a children's book with your own hands, you will quickly make it. The little one will definitely be interested in an educational story about what his favorite bear does. A series of pictures shows the baby how the bear plays with a ball, eats delicious honey, walks in the forest, sleeps on the bed.

Where do you get thematic pictures from?

The necessary images can be found in various sources:

Pictures from coloring books can also interest a small child. The baby is attracted to colored images and uncolored ones.

Large pictures are on the pages of magazines. Suitable images can be found on the Internet. They are easy to print on a printer. If you use photo paper, you will get high-quality photographs.

Pictures from wall calendars are also suitable for handmade crafts. At the end of the year, you can ask your friends for a calendar.

Arm yourself with pencils and paints. Draw yourself! Your little one will appreciate every creation.

Take photographs of various objects or phenomena yourself to create a unique book.

By showing your creativity, you will soon be able to create a homemade library.

Note!

Making a kind of encyclopedia of the surrounding world for the development of the baby

Option 1. Homemade book from a photo album

You need to purchase a 10X15 photo album with 36 pages, this is the best option. Choose small dimensions; do not take bulky photo albums. Take cardboard and cut out strips of white cardboard with dimensions of 10X15.

All that remains is to stick the pictures on the cards and insert them into the album. If the cards are laminated, they will last longer.

Subject images with inscriptions in a photo album are not just a book for kindergarten.

If its design is complicated, it is suitable for older children. This book can include children's stories, riddles and fairy tales.

Option 2. Homemade book in a file folder

For the product you will need to purchase a file folder and A4 size cardboard. Pictures are glued onto white or colored sheets. The finished cards are inserted into a folder.

Note!

The sheet may contain one image and a short story based on the picture. Another design option is to place a signature under the picture.

Option 3. Homemade book from drawing sheets

For a book you need to take 8 or 10 sheets, fold them in half, and then sew them together. You can connect the sheets in another way - make holes using a hole punch, thread a satin ribbon and tie it.

Thematic pictures are pasted into the finished book. This product has the only drawback - insufficient strength.

Option 4. Book in the form of an album

You can make a homemade craft from a sketchbook. The thematic picture must be glued to the cover. You can include your baby’s statements, his first stories, or children’s songs in the book.

Children's educational photo books

A book for a child with photographs will help the child move from everyday conversations with parents to the perception of literary works. Here the child already needs coherent speech. Simply naming the item is no longer enough.

You can paste a photo of yourself and your child. The first page serves as the cover; the title and author's name are written on it. An image is also pasted here, from which it is easy to guess what topic the book is dedicated to.

Note!

Text is written into the book and placed in different ways. The photo can be pasted on top or on the left page of the spread, and information can be placed below the photo or on the right side.

Soft fabric children's book

DIY photo children's book

An educational book for a child is a wonderful project that will bring joy and benefit to any child! Please your children with this book or sew a wonderful gift for an expectant or young mother. We will tell you in detail how to sew an educational book with your own hands and provide you with a pattern of the main parts.

Educational book: choice of materials and design options

How to sew an educational book for a child with your own hands? From a sewing technique standpoint, even beginners can do this project. However, be prepared to spend a lot of time, and also be patient and careful!

The easiest way is to sew an educational book from felt and materials whose edges do not fray (fleece, some furniture fabrics, suede, leather, etc.). This will save you from the need to overcast the edges of the parts, which will significantly save time. However, most of these materials are solid colors, so we recommend adding at least a few backgrounds and printed fabric details to bring the book to life.

If you use thin fabric, reinforce it with additional interlining. The pages of the book must be quite dense, so each of them will need a layer of reinforcing material. It can be a border or a tarpaulin, and even thin plastic, if your machine can handle sewing it.

We used Velcro to secure the removable elements. These can also be sewn or punched buttons and magnets. The book can be fastened with a buckle, magnet or carabiner.

There are several ways to bind educational books. We will tell you how to sew a book binding from fabric - this is the simplest, although not the fastest, way. You can, for example, install eyelets on each page and connect them together with special rings, which are sold in scrapbooking departments. This binding will allow you to later add new pages to the book.

Draw a sketch of your book in advance and think about what accessories you will use. If you are sewing a book for a very young child (under 3 years old), avoid small details. For example, in our book, on the page with the seasons, instead of making several small circles with leaves or snow, you can make the crown of the tree one large detail.

Pages with a clock and a game of tic-tac-toe are also designed for children over 3 years old. In order to plan your own pages, we recommend using the Internet, where you will find many options for designing a book using words such as “Developmental book” or “quite book”.

So, let's sew an educational book for a child with our own hands!

Pattern and cutting

Print the pattern on A4 sheet. Cut out the pieces.

Our book has a size of 15x20 cm in order to use half of an A4 felt sheet as a background for 1 page. Cut out 6 background pieces and 2 cover pieces without allowances. Cut out the reinforcing parts: 1 for each sheet if you are using plastic or other dense material, or 1 for each page if you are using a thinner seal.

Please note that all elements must be spaced 1cm from the edge for subsequent edging!

"Seasons" page

Cut out a free-form outline of the tree from brown felt, fitting it into the outline of the page. The width of the tree trunk is 2 cm. For the same design, cut out two 6x20 cm rectangles for pockets. Cut three circles A, one circle B and one piece C from four different materials: light green, dark green, white and orange (spring, summer, winter and autumn).

For spring foliage, cut out several white circles of different sizes, maximum 1 cm in diameter. For summer foliage - a few red apples or other fruits, if desired. For the sun, cut out one circle A and one circle D from bright yellow material. You can also cut out the moon or cloud from appropriate materials.

For each detail (except for wood and pockets), cut out an exact copy of it from additional material to which Velcro will be sewn. These lower parts can be of different colors to save material and recycle scraps.

Lacing page

Cut out the soles of the shoes using the cut out pattern. For the second sole, turn the pattern over in a mirror image. Then cut off the sock and cut out the inner oval, cut the resulting piece along a straight line on the pattern. Cut out two mirrored “toes” of the shoes, adding a 0.5 cm allowance along the bottom edge.

Cut out the cut out part of the top of the shoes 4 times, mirroring them in pairs, so that you get a double-sided part for the right and left shoes.

"Sorter" page

Cut out 4 geometric shapes from material of different colors (square, cross, triangle and circle D). In the background part, cut out the shapes corresponding to the pattern; the cut out parts will become the basis for the removable elements. At the top, cut a 1cm wide outline of the zip pocket. Cut a 15cm wide and 30cm long rectangle from the fabric that will be the background for the details and the lining of the pocket, best contrasting with the main background of the page.

"Puzzle" page

Draw a square with a side of 12 cm and draw a grid with 2x2 cm cells in it. Arbitrarily place geometric shapes (squares, stripes and polygons) on this grid, filling the entire plane. Cut out the shapes and use this pattern to cut multi-colored parts, as well as the bottom of these parts, from any material. Cut out a rectangle pocket 6x15 cm.

"Tic Tac Toe" page

For the chips, cut out 10 circles A from white material and 10 circles for the bottom of the chips of any color. You will also need 4 13cm long suede strips, or you can just stitch to outline the playing field. From red and black material, cut out 5 crosses and 5 zeros. You can also embroider these symbols with thick thread.

"Clock" page

Cut out 2 arrows from white material and 2 arrows from black material. Trim the black arrows a little along the contour so that when applied, the white edge peeks out.

For the dial, cut out 12 circles A from white material and 12 circles from dark (for example gray) material. It is advisable to make the lower parts the same color, as they will become the color of the numbers. Cut out a piece for a pocket 5x15 cm.

COVERS AND BINDING

For the front cover, cut out 5 circles D from materials of different colors and textures. If desired, cut three pieces of multi-colored ribbon 7 cm each.

For the upper part of the binding, cut out a 10x6-7 cm rectangle. For the inside of the binding, cut out a 9x20 cm rectangle (for the same number of pages as in the example). If you are using frayed material, add a hem allowance.

To tie, cut two 30 cm ribbons. For edging, you will need straight or bias tape. You can use ready-made binding 2 cm wide or cut out ribbons 3.5-4 cm wide and a length equal to the perimeter of the page.

Also prepare:

  • Velcro 1 cm wide (about 30 cm each in white and black, can be the same color)
  • Zipper length 15 cm
  • Nonwoven
  • Buttons, beads
  • Threads, cords, ribbons
  • Eyelets

"Seasons" page

Sew the red apples onto the dark green pieces. Sew the Velcro squares (the soft part) onto the bottom circles. Connect the bottom and top parts with a stitch along the contour.

Hand-sew white “flowers” onto the light green parts using white thread. Using yellow thread, embroider the centers on large “Flowers”. Sew the Velcro squares (the soft part) onto the bottom circles. Connect the bottom and top parts with a stitch along the contour.

Sew “winter” white circles with their lower parts on Velcro. Using the same principle, complete the details in autumn colors.

For the sun, cut out rays on a larger circle, as shown in the photo. Sew Velcro onto the bottom circle. Place the piece with the rays between the bottom and top pieces and stitch along the contour of the top circle.

Stitch the wood detail in the center of the page. Try on the foliage and sew the second halves of the Velcro (harder, with hooks) to the desired places. Also sew on Velcro for the sun in the upper right corner.

Make a buttonhole on the pocket pieces. Fold the pieces to form a pocket with a flap and stitch along the sides to the page, placing the pockets on either side of the barrel. The bottom edge of the pockets should be spaced 1 cm from the edge! Sew on the buttons.

Lacing page

Sew the top and bottom parts for the right and left shoes in pairs along the inner contour, as shown in the photo. Punch holes and install eyelets for lacing.

Place the soles of the shoes on the page taking into account the background pattern, if there is one, and pin it. Place the “toes” of the shoes on top and pin them as well. With the topmost layer, pin the parts with eyelets and sew along the contour with a straight stitch or zigzag (depending on the type of material used).

"Sorter" page

Sew geometric shapes from two parts, sew Velcro to the bottom part in advance.

Pin the lining to the page and stitch along the outline of the cut out shapes and the bottom edge of the zipper. Sew the Velcro along the center of the outline.

At 5-6 cm, fold the fabric back up and pin it to the top edge of the page.

Sew along the sides and top edge of the zipper, as well as along the sides of the pocket itself, covering the sides of the pocket lining.

"Puzzle" page

Make geometric shapes - puzzle pieces. Sew Velcro onto the lower parts. On long parts, sew several Velcro strips or one large one.

Sew the pocket along the bottom edge. If desired, decorate the pocket with eyelets and lace with buttons and beads.

"Tic Tac Toe" page

Stitch the lines of the playing field using suede lace or stitch with black thread. Sew two strips of Velcro on the top.

Sew Velcro onto the bottom, and stitch the top and bottom along the edge.

"Clock" page

Stitch the arrow parts. Cut out the outlines of numbers from 1 to 12 on twelve white circles. Sew Velcro to the bottom parts, and stitch the cut out circles with numbers on top.

Step back 7.5 cm from the top edge and sew arrows in the center of the page, placing the smaller arrow on top. On the front side, thread the thread through the bead or button, and then reinsert the needle into the same hole. On the wrong side, pass the thread through a small flat button. This mount will allow the hands to rotate.

Sew a pocket at the bottom.

Covers

On the back cover, draw the alphabet with chalk or soap and stitch the letters along the outline with colored thread.

Sew colored circles on the front cover and a button with beads in the center.

At the bottom, pin multi-colored ribbons folded in loops, and stitch a piece of felt on top.

Binding

Fold the pages in pairs and pin them together. Sew along the edge.

Prepare the facings. Fold the cut strips in half and iron. Then unfold and fold the edges to the ironed line of the middle and iron too.

Unfold the facings and pin right sides together with the edges of the pages. Start pinning the facing from the middle of the long side of the page, on the side where the binding will later be - then the joint of the facings will close.

Pin, aligning the edges of the facing and the page all the way to the corner, then fold the facing at a right angle and continue on the other side.

Sew along the entire edge to the width of the facing fold (approximately 7 mm). Bring the stitch to the corner and, turning it at 45 degrees, bring it to the edge. Cut the threads and start stitching again near the corner.

Turn the facing over to the other side of the page and, turning it under, pin it to the base. Sew the facing by hand using a blind stitch, folding the corners to one side.

Insert ribbons for tying into the cover pages under the facing. Tie knots at the free ends of the ribbon. Topstitching can be done if desired.

Take the rectangular inner binding piece (the larger rectangle). If necessary, hem the long sides. Back off 6cm and pin with the second sheet of the book, placing the binding in the center of the page, covering the edges of the facings. Fold the binding around the edge of the page and pin it.

Sew close to the edge of the page. Use the zipper foot.

Step back from this page at least 3 cm (if the page is very thick with protruding parts, step back more) and attach the next page in the same way.

Now attach the covers to the binding without bending the fabric. Stitch and trim off excess.
