Braid headband pattern

Three-color women's headband knitted

Tie three strips of different colors and braid them

In the magazine “Knitted Piggy Bank” I came across an interesting headband for spring or summer, knitted with ordinary long strips of different colors, woven together into a braid. You can choose any colors to suit your wardrobe.
To knit this version of the headband you don’t even need a pattern. Take yarn of 3 shades, in the original it is Jeans, 55% cotton 45% acrylic, 160 met/50 g, but you can choose any and tie three long strips with a 1x1 elastic band, braid them, sew according to the color. To figure out what length of strip to knit, make 3 strips of approximately 40cm, pin them and try them on your head to estimate the size. If it is not enough, continue working until the desired measurement is reached.

One of the popular styles of knitted headbands is . They are made from scarves, chiffon, knitwear, even fur. And, of course, knitters can’t ignore the spectacular model. And knitting a turban headband on knitting needles is so simple that even a novice knitter can handle knitting, especially if you carefully read the diagram and description.
In this master class I will not suggest a specific yarn. Knit from any one that is available. Maybe after knitting a sweater there is a skein left over - put it to use. The only size in a headband is its length. Well, the width may be different.

  1. It was for this model that 26 loops were cast, of which two were edge loops.
  2. We remove the first loop, then knit it with a 2x2 elastic band (2 knits, 2 purls), knit the last loop purl.
  3. Knit 20-22 cm, then divide the stitches in half and continue to knit each half separately to a length of approximately 6 cm.
  4. When the two halves are ready, we overlap one half over the other and then knit both parts together. Close the loops and sew the first and last rows.

The second version of the turban headband on knitting needles

The overlap in this turban headband for women is done in a different way.

    purl) 58 cm long.

  3. Next, take one strip and fold it in half. Thread the second piece through the loop and align the ends. Sew the first and last rows.
  4. To knit a shirtfront, cast on 146 sts on circular needles with red yarn. and knit 22 cm with an elastic band 1 by 1 (k1, p1), then 22 cm, alternating 4 r. light gray tone and 4 p. dark gray.

In spring it is very convenient to wear headbands. They are comfortable and not as hot as wearing a hat. Moreover, today headbands have become extremely popular among women. In this master class we will knit a headband that is just right for spring and autumn. It's easy to knit. It takes very little time to make it.

To knit a headband we will need:

  1. Yarn (Alize Lanagold 800, 49% wool, 51% acrylic, thread length 800 meters per 100 grams);
  2. Knitting needles No. 2;
  3. The needle is plastic.

How to knit a headband with a jumper

Let's put twenty stitches on the knitting needles along with the edge stitches. We will knit in two threads so that the bandage does not turn out loose and holey, since the thread is thin. Or you can replace the yarn with a thicker one and knit in one thread. Any yarn will do for the headband.

Next, we knit the first row and in it we remove the first edge loop onto the knitting needle. Next we knit a purl stitch and then a knit stitch. Then purl and knit again. That is, we alternate loops. We will knit in this way until the end of this row. The last edge can be knitted either with a purl or a knit stitch.

Now we move on to the second row. We will knit it in the same way as we knitted the first one, but with one loop shifted. We remove the first loop without knitting it. Then we look at what kind of loop it goes. We need to change it to the opposite. That is, if we have a purl loop next, then we knit not the purl above it, but the front one. And where we knitted a front stitch in the bottom row, we knit a purl stitch there. Thus, we get the second row as if in a checkerboard pattern. And so we will alternate several rows until we reach the desired length of our future headband.

Now we will use a plastic needle to sew the edges of the bandage. We sew the short edges with any convenient seam.

Turn the bandage inside out.

We knit a jumper for the bandage

Next we will knit the second part of the headband. Let's put ten stitches on the knitting needles. And then the knitting will be exactly the same as the bandage itself. That is, we alternate the loops again, and perform each new row in a checkerboard pattern depending on the previous one. You need to knit about twelve centimeters.

Headband patterns

Do air.p. rise, *yarn over, insert the hook into the column on the right, grab and pull the working thread, repeat two more times: yarn over, insert the hook into the same point and pull the thread onto the hook. Now grab the working thread and knit all the loops on the hook. Secure the lush column by tying the air. loop and continue knitting the next lush stitch, repeating from *.

"Star" pattern

TO The number of loops must be a multiple of four + 3 + 2 edge loops.

1st row:We knit with facial loops. Remove the edge, *knit three out of three loops: knit three loops with a knit stitch behind the back wall, make a yarn over, and knit these three loops with a knit stitch again behind the back wall, knit the next loop with a knit stitch. Repeat from * to the end of the row until there are 4 loops left on the needle. Of the three, knit three loops again, and purl the last edge loop.

2nd and 4th rows:Purl all stitches.

3rd row:remove the edge, knit 2, *knit three out of three loops: knit three loops on the back wall, yarn over, and knit these three loops again on the back wall, knit the next loop. Repeat from * to the end of the row until there are 3 loops left on the needle. Knit 2 loops, and purl the last edge loop.

Repeat the pattern from the first to the fourth rows.

Hello! Today is a very simple way to knit a strip on your head for those who do not like to throw stitches on the knitting needles when knitting a voluminous braid. The author of the work is Jana Beckel. Further from the author:

“I offer a master class on knitting a headband with an original braid.

If you have long dreamed of knitting something with a “voluminous braid” pattern, but all these “crossed loops”, “broaches”, “auxiliary knitting needles” scare you, then this option is for you! Believe me, this dream is destined to come true in 3-4 hours))) This model can also be recommended to young girls for practice and training,

since this method implies knowledge of only two loops - faces. and out.

So what do we need for this? Threads, knitting needles and our golden pens!

Brick-colored threads (50% wool, 50% acrylic, 250m/100g), knitting needles 4.5 mm

Prepare yourself some aromatic tea or coffee, a vase of goodies and your favorite movie or show. This headband is a pleasure to knit! Let's start.

Cast on 27 stitches + 2 edges (= 29 stitches) and knit next. way:

1st row: chrome, all front, chrome;

2nd row: chrome, knit 6, purl 15, knit 6, chrome;

3rd row: edge, all front, edge;

4th row: chrome, knit 6, purl 15, knit 6, chrome;

5th row: edge, all front, edge;

6th row: chrome, knit 6, purl 15, knit 6, chrome;

Row 7: chrome, knit 6, cast off 15 stitches, knit 6, chrome;

Row 8: chrome, knit 6, cast on 15 stitches, knit 6, chrome;

P.S. I know of two ways to cast on stitches to continue knitting. The first is a simple winding around the needle (in this case, 15 times). The second is the formation of loops using the index finger of the second hand (see photo)

1 method of casting on loops

2nd method of casting on loops

Loops cast on using the second method.

Choose the most comfortable method (I like to wrap around the knitting needles) and continue knitting from rows 1 to 8.

We continue to repeat rows 1-8, cast on and cast on loops in the right places.

View from the reverse side.

Front view. The strips curl inward. This is normal, moreover, it is necessary!

We continue knitting. We sip some tea and admire.

I got it (with these threads and my knitting density) - 17 stripes. Knit to desired length.

Now comes the fun part!

Let's create a loop.

We pull the subsequent strips through the loop.

This is the strip we got. At this stage, try on your head to see if there are enough stripes. If everything is the right size, close the loops.

Sew the ends of the bandage together. Hide the ends of the threads in a knitted fabric.

View of the tied ends from the side of the braid.

Now let’s admire what we’ve got! Headband with a voluminous braid!

But we have one last loop left. You can simply fasten it to the canvas or sew on a small button. But if you choose a large decorative button or brooch, the junction can be perfectly decorated and worn not at the back under the hair, but in front.

All! Our braided headband is ready!

Using this method of knitting braids, you can knit bracelets, scarves, collar covers, warming covers for mugs and much more. To knit two braids on a fabric, you need to cast on 50 sts (48 + 2 cromes). And in even rows, knit according to the pattern: chrome, knit 6, purl 15, knit 6, purl 15, knit 6, chrome;

The latest photos are from the Internet.

I hope everything worked out for you and this method did not cause any difficulties! Happy creativity and easy stitches!

Have you ever wanted to knit a headband? Handicrafts and knitting have been valued at all times. An item created with your own hands looks more elegant and is ideal for a person, because the item was knitted strictly according to his measurements. A knitted headband is a great accessory that will fit into any wardrobe and will protect you from the wind in bad weather.

How to knit a headband for a girl

A headband for a girl is often knitted with knitting needles. The item is well suited for autumn or spring weather, when it is already hot to walk around in a hat, and the wind can blow your ears, and the likelihood of getting sick becomes real. Another drawback of a hat is that it often makes your forehead itch; not everyone looks good in it. If you make a headband with knitting needles in two layers, then you can safely wear it even in winter! In cold weather, the head will remain warm, and the hairstyle will not deteriorate: the hair will lie neatly, and nothing will spoil the appearance.

What is needed for work

Before knitting, you need to seriously prepare: you need to select your knitting needles in advance. The density of the future dressing depends on their thickness. It is best to use four knitting needles. If you take a thinner tool, the loops will be closer to each other, the finished product will not stretch well and fit too tightly to the head. And for thick people, the bandage will be too light, you will have to sew two layers, or the product will not warm your head.

You need to choose the yarn from which the headband will be made with knitting needles. The stores offer a large selection of materials: you can find any thickness, type, color. It is advisable to choose the shade that will best match your outerwear. To determine what material to knit from, you need to decide what time of year this accessory will be worn. For winter you should choose wool, it will warm well, and for autumn and spring acrylic is suitable. It is also necessary to take pins, threads and needles.

Which pattern to choose

On the Internet you can find several ready-made options for knitted headbands: they are suitable for both girls and women. All products look elegant and interesting; they can always be decorated with a beautiful brooch or an unusual pattern. What type of accessory to choose depends only on your taste and knitting ability. The more complex the drawing, the more experience the craftswoman should have.

Step-by-step master class on knitting

If you follow all the instructions according to the diagram below, you will get a headband with knitting needles, as in the photo. You can choose any color for the product, you can even play with the range, take two different shades, then the finished product will look more interesting. The detailed description below will tell you how to make a stylish attribute of your wardrobe. Knit an item that can become the main feature of your look.

Pigtail headband

You need to take yarn (a meter of wool weighs about 100 grams) and knitting needles. Operating procedure:

  1. Cast on loops. Their number affects the width of the future product. The average thickness is achieved by casting on 24 stitches. You need to knit with an elastic band: two loops on the front side, two on the back.
  2. The entire strip should be tied. Its length depends on the circumference of the head. It is calculated by the formula: head circumference minus ten cm, divide the resulting value by two.
  3. Then, to create the “braid” element, you will need to twist it. You need to divide all the loops into two parts and knit them separately. For convenience, you can remove half the loops and then put them on the wire. Knit each half by six cm.
  4. Then you need to make a twist, and then start knitting together. You need to knit the same length as in the third point.
  5. It's time to finish the product. We need to sew the ends together. If you do not close the loops, the seam will be less noticeable.

Bow headband for girls

  1. We suggest knitting this headband with a pearl pattern. To do this, you need to pick up a strip of the first row, alternating the front and purl loops, and on the second row you need to knit the purl over the front ones and vice versa.
  2. Cast on ten stitches and knit a strip. The length should be equal to the circumference of the head.
  3. Separately make a small rectangle.
  4. Add this rectangle to the bandage, securing it to the edge of the strip in the middle. Sew it from the wrong side.
  5. The last step is to connect the bandage, close (process) the edges. This should make a beautiful headband.

Knitwear models for women

Such an accessory will look great not only on a young girl, but also on a woman who wants to show that she has taste and her free style includes different attributes. It’s worth leaving prejudices aside and knitting a beautiful accessory for cold and frosty weather with a scarf pattern. During preparation, the canvas turns out elegant, the main thing is to follow all the instructions.

Knitted turban headband

The turban headband is an unusual pattern that will look elegant with any classic coat. We bring to your attention an interesting color solution: divide the entire product in half and make each half in its own color: for example, gray and smoky gray. Colors that differ only by a couple of tones will look great when combined with each other.

  1. Cast on 28-30 loops.
  2. The rows should be knitted like this. First row: edge stitch, knit, purl, knit, pattern - about twenty stitches are needed for it - then knit, purl, knit, edge. The second row differs only in that in place of the front one there will be a purl one and vice versa.
  3. Knit a product 50 cm long.
  4. Change coat color. Knit another 50 cm.
  5. Fold the halves in half.
  6. Thread the second end of the product into the ring.
  7. Sew the ends together.

Openwork headdress

You can knit a very simple bandage: it will look like a strip, the ends of which are tied together. However, if you use an openwork pattern, then even such an ordinary product will look interesting and extraordinary. There are a huge variety of such patterns; their diagrams can be found on the Internet. The more complex the pattern, the more experienced the girl who decides to knit it should be. Attention and patience will help you create the desired shapes, since the patterns must be tracked and not skip a single loop, otherwise everything can be ruined.
